I tried watching Dead Birds a while back, got bored and didn't finish it. Decided to watch it all the way through last night. I thought it was alright. Nothing too special, it does have its share of scary moments but nothing spectacular.
Oooh...that was a tricky little beastie. Not a solid winner but damned if it didn't have flashes of creepy flair. Good cast too. Ultimately a little disappointing simply because it couldn't sustain the great little moments.

hey Diehard...you are an adventurous sort. Have you tried this'un

Nice cast. Very ambitious. Almost an origin story. You might like it despite it's shortcomings due to $$$$$.

Maybe, I'm not the biggest fan of demon hack-n-slash films though

Solid flick about a girl who gets ****ed up thanks to some ancient Indian burial ground. Worth a watch if you're bored.

The Matador is fun. Pierce Brosnan is pretty hilarious as a wacko hitman who's clingy and lonely. Good stuff.

Was pretty underwhelmed by this movie. Thought it had good potential but didn't really deliver. Reminded me a bit of Triangle except not as good or elaborate.

I watched it last night. Thanks for the recommendation. Holy **** that movie was good. I loved the music and the story was really engaging. I kind of chuckled when the demons made their first appearance but besides that I liked pretty much everything about it.

Watched a few classics for the first time recently. Just a reminder, I only became a horror fanatic at the beginning of the year.

My favorites were Suspiria and The Thing. Hadn't seen an Argento film before and Suspiria was absolutely brilliant. Deep Red was good too, not as good as Suspiria in my opinion. As far as the Carpenter films, I loved The Thing. Halloween, not as much. The scare tactics aren't as effective as they were back then, although it's obvious that tons of films were influenced by it, one of which was Scream. And yea, I thought Scream was stupid.

I liked Texas Chainsaw Massacre, although I thought it was more fun than scary. Seemed like the last 45 minutes of the movie were mostly the girl screaming incessantly while being chased by chainsaw dude. I also couldn't stop laughing during the scene with the grandpa and the hammer. Is the remake worth a watch?

Mother is a 1952 film by Mikio Naruse, a director I've heard a lot about but had yet to actually see any films by (even though I own one). This film isn't available on DVD (although it's currently available on Hulu, thanks to Criterion, so when I saw it was coming on Turner Classics, I got pretty excited. Then I let it sit on my DVR for a really long time because it wasn't as sexy or exciting as other stuff I wanted to watch. I watched it last night, though, and I loved it. It's a post-war film about a poor family with 4 kids. The only son dies young, then the father dies and it's up to Mom to raise and provide for her children with little money. It's kind of... it's almost exactly what you'd expect from a movie about that subject, but it's really well done and the actress who plays Mom, Kinuyo Tanaka, is fantastic.

It's a moving, funny and sad little film. The kind that would get all kinds of award talk and be beloved by all the indie film lovers (including myself) if it came out today and was American. If you've got a Hulu subscription, I HIGHLY recommend it. Hopefully, Criterion's in the process of restoring it and putting some special features together for a proper release because I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Watched another movie I found in the horror movie thread

Red, White and Blue is one of the most dark, raw, and gut-wrenching films I've seen. This film takes us into the lives of three characters whose lives intersect over the course of a week or two. It starts off pretty slow and initially I was wondering why someone would label it as a horror movie. Then the movie makes a seamless transition into an extremely brutal and graphic tale of revenge and heartbreak. I'm certainly glad I stuck with it.

Agggggggggggggh why haven't I seen that yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet?

why not indeed?

Yeah, Diehard hit it on the head. The horror happens pretty much in a moment, but man...what a moment. And it's organic. It rises from just a terrible set of circumstances. But, all actions have consequences. This movie isn't for everyone. It's deliberate...it has all the earmarks of an indie flick(although the acting is better than expected), etc. But yeah, you oughtta see it Adgy. This is definitely one of those 'gotta shower afters' kind of movies.

I want to shower just from hearing about it. ;)

I was going to watch The Woman yesterday, but um, I am turning into a wimp.

It's probably an interesting film, Lucky McKee is almost a feminist director if you've watched his previous woman centered films.

But Jack Ketchum, while a good writer, always seemed nasty against women. I don't if he's just exploring misogyny, but the Girl Next Door made me queasy.

Still, this could be interesting, haha. ;)

Just stop being a pussy and watch it. If you sat through The Girl Next Door and Martyrs you'll have no problem with Woman.

Oh, touche. :P

I've never watched Martyrs or The Girl Next Door films. :P

But I read The Girl Next Door novel, and um, yeah, that was tough, like really nasty, some people have told me worst that the novel. So I shouldn't wimp out and watch The Woman, then. ;)

I can take demons, guys being torn in half, but dammit, I just don't like violence again women. I don't mean the Halloween, you've been slashed, now die, but the sexual violence and torture against them. It makes me sick because I am too much of a feminist.

Pretty sure DieHard said he saw this, but I don't remember what he thought about it. I thought it was ok. I kind of dug the angle they went at it from and it had some decent creepy bits, but it wasn't really anything special.
