darby: how dare you call Children of Men just "okay"
And all Chow Yun Fat movies are underwhelming.
And "American Graffiti" was showing a couple of times. I sort of find it depressing, though. It's proof that George Lucas can make a really good movie, and then he went and made a bunch of Star Wars crap. (Although I do suppose I should give him partial credit for the Indiana Jones trilogy)
I still can't believe it lost out to "The Sting" Damn you Robert Redford!
They had 2 copies: the Red Sun release factory sealed in region 2 for ten bucks, or the original domestic release in mono (used) for 40. Oh yeah, they offered to order the criterion for me...
FOR $140 ****ING DOLLARS. That's a joke, right?
I gotta say, it was well worth the wait and the trouble. My expectations were pretty high from everything you and Trant said, and sure it was dated by the music and fashion, but it was one seriously cool-ass flick. The gunplay was friggin AWESOME. Truly a guys film, with male-bonding firmly intact. It looked great, sounded great, and I'll watch it again at least a few times. Probably soon. Not flawless of course, but I can really see how it would become a cult classic. I'm stoked for it. Especially for 10 bucks.
Anyway, thanks for the recommendation. Really glad I got it.
I can't help but notice that adgy competely left out the part about Alain Delon being cooler than Chow Yun Fat.![]()
Anyone know if the Man With No Name box set is any good? Or would I be better off buying the DVDs separately?
It looks like only TGTBATU got multiple DVD releases, at least from what I can tell from a quick search.
Wifey and I saw the first showing of the "Hip Hop Project" in Irvine on Friday. It is a pretty interesting documentary about a project to get a recording studio and put out some positive hip hop to keep impressionable kids on the straight and narrow. It was well put together and easy to watch for a documentary. The music wasn't the greatest but they made it a secondary focus of the film with the people being the main story.
They are releasing a box set in June to match the most recent special edition release of TGTBATU. It will have the three movies and "Duck, You Sucker!". All of the movies will be released individually, also.

Each film is a 2 disc-er.

I just watched Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. Freaking hilarious. I highly recommend it. I won't go into a long missive about the plot because quite frankly it's a just a simple comedy but anyone that loves Rock will love this movie.
