Should replace 5 and 8. Both of 'em are God awful.Don't blame the player, blame the person that signed the player. The player is what he is.
We have been in negotiations again recently, however, his refusal to part with that ridiculous ‘Q’ necklace continues to be a sticking point..Did Byfield make a deal with the Devil? What has gotten into that guy?
By the way Nyssa, agree on Project Hail Mary. Excellent flick.
I haven't read this one yet, but I did read The Martian and you're absolutely correct: Project Hail Mary was always intended to be a film. Not seen it but as a hard sci fi fan I did not like the book but I remember thinking that it felt written to be a movie, so maybe it's better like that.
Also blame the previous GM who traded many RD for pennies on the dollar and let others walk for nothing. It is roster mismanagement.Don't blame the player, blame the person that signed the player. The player is what he is.
Luc just read this post.Kings played as well as they could.
Well, he'd be correct. And that's the problem. The "as well as they could" still lands on the shoulders of Luc et al. It might be an excuse but it's a fact: they've put together a sh**y TEAM.Luc just read this post.
He's going to add that quote to his list of things to say (excuses) to the fans at the end of the season press conference to let them know why the Kings crashed out yet again.
wow, I loved the book, and I'm all about SciFi of all genres - couldn't figure out how they were going to turn it into a movie while I was reading because of so much math & tech stuff. They skip all that in the movie. They handle the flashback parts really well, but not in the same way as they are in the book. Not seen it but as a hard sci fi fan I did not like the book but I remember thinking that it felt written to be a movie, so maybe it's better like that.
My copy of Project Hail Mary will be here tomorrow. I liked The Martian, but I still really miss Michael Crichton. His sci-fi techno-thrillers are my favorites. My favorite is State of Fear. Prey isn't bad either. But State of Fear is one of the few novels I've actually read twice.wow, I loved the book, and I'm all about SciFi of all genres - couldn't figure out how they were going to turn it into a movie while I was reading because of so much math & tech stuff. What is another good recent SciFi book for me to read? Need new material - so many books these days suck.
I have not read these later Crichton works, and I love his stuff! I will check them out. Coma is still my fav besides Jurassic ParkMy copy of Project Hail Mary will be here tomorrow. Not a lot of new authors I've really got into. I've read a bunch of crap lately that-s really subpar.
State of Fear is 25 years old, but it's even more relevant today. His last novels were Micro, published posthumously in 2011 with the assistance of Richard Preston (The Hot Zone), and Eruption also published posthumously in 2024 with the assistance of James Patterson.
It's not pure sci-fi, but they are techno-thrillers with sci-fi elements. If haven't read them and you're bored, they're real page turrners.
I enjoyed Coma, too, but it was written by Robin Cook. Michael Crichton directed the film adaptation. He was a pretty good director...not great...but he had a few memorable films like Runaway (with Gene Simmons from Kiss as the bad guy) and The Great Train Robbery with Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland.I have not read these later Crichton works, and I love his stuff! Oh, yeah, duh....Robin Cook - but the Crichton film adaptation must be why I though it was his. I think that movie would still give me the creeps if I watched it now, and I am not easy to creep out.I enjoyed Coma, too, but it was written by Robin Cook. Michael Crichton directed the film adaptation.
