At this point, Todd being "average" got coupled with Blakes horrific roster and player acquisition decisions, and that was a one-two punch of failure. Blake is now in CYA mode.

If AEG and Danny B get smart, they will see that what they have at the Kings is what they had at Galaxy: The old bro-culture, hire your friends, and former teammates, hire the guys you used to know or played for. Nobody smart from the outside. Insiders only. Echo-chamber front office mentality.

That style of FO wrecked the Galaxy. This past year Danny B, Uncle Phil cleaned house at Galaxy and threw out all the front office echo-chamber. Hired outsiders who know the game and have top tier successful experience. The Galaxy are on the way up.

Kings fans: Pray to the hockey gods, and light a candle of Uncle Phil and hope he fires Blake by the end of the season.
Then hire a new GM (from the outside) who will hire a new coach and bring the Kings back to the promise land. A decade of mediocrity is far far too long....it's time for a change.

Luc and Bergevin need to go as well. They may have been the ones behind the PLD trade. Bergevin always wanted PLD on Montreal.
 
Todd isn’t the main issue, just the old fire one guy for team failure. Similar to Woodcroft imo.

We need a new message…but if I were the players I would be ready to step the F up because they are more to blame but you can’t fire 20+.

Todd’s system didn’t change. What changed was how much easier it was for opponents to penetrate that structure the Kings are known for and exacerbated by a slip in goaltending. Talbot regressed big time albeit some of it due to the cracks in front of him, but still…a minor league goalie has outperformed him for a couple of months.

It’s about freakin time. I never liked this hire but I waited and thought maybe the coach that chokes would not choke here…but I was wrong!
I want a coach that has won it all! I prefer Quenneville but I’ll take a coach that has won.

No way. I think Kaliyev is gone too unless Hiller tells Blake he’s got a role for him to fill.

This firing had to happen. I hope it works because I still like the Kings roster if Arvidsson can play anywhere close to how he’s played throughout his career. If it doesn’t work I think there’s a good chance we see a real house cleaning from Luc on down.

I’m sure we’ll never know the truth but I bet the cost to replace Todd was one of the reasons Blake gave him such a long leash.

No owner likes the idea of paying two head coaching salaries. Promoting Hiller saves the organization quite a bit of money.
 
I kinda liked Todd but I don't think we'd have ever won a playoff series with him and we were obviously just tanking this year... I'd hope Blake gets a coach from the outside besides Jim Hiller, as that is what I think is really needed besides just simply getting rid of Todd. We need a new voice in that room. Tho maybe Jim Hiller is a bad mofo. We'll see, but either way, phase one complete.

Yup! It's time to clean out the front office.
If Kings fans step up and demand it, (like the G's fans did) it may well happen.

Kings fans, you REALLY don't want Blake to be the guy who hires yet ANOTHER coach!!!!
How many coaches do you want this guy to hire/fire....when you realize its not the coaches, it's the guy hiring them.

CLEAN HOUSE! The after Lombardi "rebuild" is dead. Start over!

I'd clean house, put the best guys on the ice every night. The only thing I think is less likely above is Roy as they will probably need him if they feel they can make a playoff run. If they don't improve, trade Roy by the deadline and raise the white flag.
