McLellan fired

I’m sure we’ll never know the truth but I bet the cost to replace Todd was one of the reasons Blake gave him such a long leash.

No owner likes the idea of paying two head coaching salaries. Promoting Hiller saves the organization quite a bit of money.
Come on now this is AEG. They have more money than god.
On the Galaxy side they've been paying for fired coaches still under contract for years.
Basically paying for multiple coaches while only one is currently working.
Additionally they just fired the President, less than six months after he was given a new contract, because the fans boycotted and demanded he be fired.

AEG has the $$$$$$

Blake gave Todd a long leash because Blake is inept, and was desperately trying to CYA so he would not have to fire yet another coach that he hired.

Todd is gone.
Blake needs to be the next to go.

It’s about freakin time. I never liked this hire but I waited and thought maybe the coach that chokes would not choke here…but I was wrong!
I want a coach that has won it all! I prefer Quenneville but I’ll take a coach that has won.
Quenneville? Seriously?

This should be enough to convince you that he should never coach again:

Brad Aldrich investigation[edit]

On October 26, 2021, an independent investigation into how the Blackhawks responded to claims that former video coach Brad Aldrich sexually assaulted prospect Kyle Beach during the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs revealed that Quenneville, as well as the rest of the Blackhawks' senior leadership team, opted to defer any action on Aldrich until after the Stanley Cup Finals.

According to the report, Quenneville was particularly concerned about causing a distraction before the finals. Three weeks after the allegations were raised, Aldrich was forced to resign by HR and Legal after opting not to comply with their investigation and subsequently pleaded guilty to assaulting a player at a Michigan high school where he was a volunteer coach.[12]

Quenneville had previously claimed he had no knowledge that Aldrich sexually assaulted anyone before Beach and the high school player sued the Blackhawks,[13] but multiple witnesses stated that he was called into a meeting to discuss the Aldrich matter shortly after the Blackhawks defeated the Sharks to advance to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals.[14] Multiple people in the meeting claimed that the matter discussed did not involve sexual assault and then CEO, John Mcdonough, in the meeting committed to getting more information and handling the matter while directing Quenneville and hockey operations focused on the Stanley Cup Finals.[15]

On October 27, 2021, Quenneville was summoned to a meeting the following day with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to discuss his role in the incident.[16] Within hours of that meeting, Quenneville announced his immediate resignation as Panthers coach.[17] According to a formal NHL statement, Bettman, the Panthers, and Quenneville mutually agreed that "it was no longer appropriate" for Quenneville to stay on. Bettman also announced that Quenneville will have to meet with him before he is allowed to work in the NHL again.[18]

It took longer than necessary because TM was Blake’s coach in San Jose.
And who doesn’t realize that the personnel for a power play will have all left handed shooters? It’s the little stuff like that that separates good GMs from Stanley Cup winning GMs.
and trades a right handed shot off the power play for a tree trunk. blake should fire himself next i do agree - I "personally" can't wait for this good old boys LA Kings era to be over with Luc and Blake. I remember when we boo'd Blake at Staples for quite awhile -.-

This move will not propel the Kings, yes it had to be done, however this group of players don't have it in them to win. With that being said, they will win five more games in a row, however then a late season collapse.

unfortunately we have the roster Blake has seen fit to give us of square pegs in round holes. I hate rebuilds, I skipped the last one and started watching again when Todd was hired. Bleh.

I'd clean house, put the best guys on the ice every night. The only thing I think is less likely above is Roy as they will probably need him if they feel they can make a playoff run. If they don't improve, trade Roy by the deadline and raise the white flag.
Agreed. However, if Rittich is good every other game and Talbot doesn’t recover, Roy’s cap hit could be better used towards a Jake Allen anyway, but definitely some games to play before his particular decision is made. The most pivotal for sure.

My son for Christmas got us Carolina Hurricane sweatshirts and also a hat for me. Maybe I'll ride the Hurricane bandwagon for a while. I have been singing James Taylor's "Carolina in my mind" It looks like we might be out there sooner than we thought.

It’s not possible for this roster to have a full rebuild. Doughty and Kopitar are not going anywhere. Fiala, Gavrikov, Danault have NMC. Moore has a NTC. PLD is damaged goods.

Hiiiiiiiilllllllleerrrrr

And we boo'd/taunted Hiller too, ... oh wait ... he was on the Sux.

This feels more like firing Sutter and replacing him with Stevens.
Care to wager on how this firing is going to work out?
I am dreaming a bit here, but I am hoping that Blake had a talk with Hiller about what he might have done differently over the last month. Maybe Hiller provided Blake with enough info/details to warrant Blake taking a chance on him for the rest of the year. Otherwise, it will just be the same message from a familiar voice. That would be a huge WTF? It would show that this is a CYA move by Blake and not a move to make this team better.

That seems very plausible. There’s no reason to change a head coach if the plan is more of the same. Hiller has a reputation as an offense tactician so maybe we’ll see him favor some creativity in the gameplan. It sure would be nice to see the Kings score some more goals every night.

^^^100% this and your last post too about the good old boys club.

As far as coaches go, as time passes I am even more angry with the move. We fired Todd and replaced him with Hiller. WT actual F?!? We needed to get a fresh voice, but not so fresh that we looked OUTSIDE OF THE LOCKER ROOM for the voice. As a fan, I hope Hiller can lead us to a Cup. But why get an "interim coach" in a season where we capped out the team so badly that we were planning to ice a 20-player roster for the opening months and we pushed in a ton of chips to trade for PLD and extend Gavrikov? We're both all in and having an interim coach. That seems like madness. Get the best coach for the job; you've already spent a ransom on the current roster.

And back to the old boys club. We've got Blake, Emerson, and Murray. I think Greene and Stoll help with prospects. I think O'Donnell and Donnelly do too. Jordan Nolan does some community stuff. Blake bringing in Bergevin was kind of a joke but he's probably a breath of fresh air relatively speaking. So much of the staff is former Kings. Get some outside voices so that the message isn't stale and inbred.
