GDT ***Minnesota Wild vs. Los Angeles Kings (again) GDT 1/5/26 7:30pm on FanDuel***

Anyone notice who that Kings C was who won something like 3 of 4 huge draws in the defensive zone in the final 40 seconds? 😀

Edit: I guess it was 2 of 3 plus a nice defensive play to get possession. And 14 wins to 7 losses tonight.
Edit 2: scorers updated QB to 15 wins to only 6 losses; his FO game was on point tonight.
I'll give him credit where it's due, NHL.com box score shows 71% FO for QB. Thats the player we need to see

I think Q visited a shaman.

Turc started that play with a pretty stretch pass. Kid is really playing with confidence.
Dare I say it, but Turcotte is a much better hockey player, and center than Byfield. If only he had Byfield’s size and speed, we’d have a real gamer on our hands.

Although I will say, Byfield has been better after being separated from Fiala. Those two on the same line is a total clown show, and it took our clown of a coach far too long to recognize it. Since Byfield has been playing with simple north/south no-frills types forwards, in Foegele and Armia, his game looks.. less frustrating. Someone still needs to drill it into this kids head that he’s bigger and faster than almost everyone else on the ice. He should be lowering his shoulder and driving to, and through, the opposition crease every night.. just like noted power forward Andrei Kuzmenko did this evening on that beautiful goal. 🤪

As good as the last game was, this was much better. Things aren't ever going to be perfect with this team. And Hiller's not ever going to make questionable moves. It doesn't matter. That was a convincing win under difficult circumstances. Now they need to keep it going. The need to beat San Jose & to keep on winning.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed 9 combined goals (5+4 per Nyssa) and/or came within 2 minutes of 9:20 of the third for the gwg:

By far the best hockey watching game of the year regardless of the toll on the forward corps. Strong forecheck, active defense, great goaltending, all in all a great effort and a brand of hockey that looked like winning hockey in the face of amazing talents like Hughes. For all of you that guessed 8 goals combined, take it up with Nyssa.

Turc isn't a better hockey player, but he has a higher hockey IQ and strong fundamentals across the board. He also seems to be very good at getting under opposing player's skin. He's also fearless (potentially to his own detriment).

Byfield is turning it around, though, but shooting more, playing more aggressive and has been on the winning end in the faceoff circle the last two games. As you said, lining him up with north/south players has made a big difference (many of us have been asking for this to happen for quite some time) and he still needs to both learn to better utilize his size and better read the game.

Both Byfield and Turc have a lot of hustle and watching them from ice level last night I can say they future looks bright for both of them.

Turc has been playing well for awhile now

Agreed, though much of it hasn't translated into points as of yet (though it is starting to). Still, I'm not sure why he continues to be given a distinct lack of minutes (even last game, with Kopi leaving due to injury, he only logged a little of 13 minutes) but it's nice to see him getting better opportunities while on the ice and the points starting to come as a result.
