***Nashville Predators vs. LA Kings GDT 3/11/23 7:30pm on BSW***

"He who reigns within himself and rules passions, desires, and fears is more than a king."

Thanks. Yeah I've been trying to read it on short blips thru the TV. Excellent quote, which features the Reign and Kings - I can't believe John Milton was such a Kings/Reign fan tho.

It was a stinker, plain and simple. Fox and Faust kept trying to blame the ice surface. But both teams were playing on the same surface and the Kings were outplayed.

They have been on a great run. Time to regroup, move on and beat the Islanders.

If the Kings are still picking up a point when they play a stinker, then you know they're playing quite well.

Spence should have been in the line up. The only way they will get NHL experience is by playing them. Spence will adapt, he is talented enough. Heck DD was giving the puck away all night. the bigger problem is that this team without Fiala drops down quite a bit. His absence was really noticeable throughout the line up. The PP sucked and 5 on 5 they were not effective. They have to win the games against a non playoff teams. No excuses. They beat the Avs then come home and lose like they did is just not acceptable.

Yes, let's expect them to be unbeaten from now on, even when missing a key player due to an injury.

Hold your horses. Nashville isn't a bottom dweller team. They are a wild card team with .570 winning percentage FFS. They have arguably the best defender in the NHL and two great goalies.

PS: I agree about Spence.

PS2: And the Kings actually got a point out of this horrid affair, so...

That was a bad game but I agree with your points. The Kings are going to lose games occasionally. Everyone, save Copley, looked a bit off. The ice was total trash. I laughed that Fox was blaming it on humidity (possible) when there was a Clippers game earlier in the afternoon. The Kings offense, and the PP in particular, was feeling the effects of no Fiala and no Durzi.

Nashville did what we have done to teams-- keep it close and then wait for your star players to win it for you late.

It's one game. A tough, grinding game that they need to play when circumstances demand it.
They have to learn to play these games.

Somehow the Ducks managed to score 4 against them last night...of course, they gave up 5. Kings should have played much better Saturday, it was painful there in person.

That inconsistency with the Predators is why they're still fighting for a playoff spot. That's who they are. When they're on they play of a deliberate, tight, physical, safe game. The Kings on the other hand thrive in open ice and love to break an opponents will with their shot generation. The ice conditions were definitely a factor but the Kings had several opportunities to win in regulation. The power play was abysmal generating very little with a man advantage is usually a sign that the team in out of sync.

How is any of that game on Copley? Maybe the only player who had a solid game start to finish. DD needs to start playing better - that was the glaring issue I was seeing. First line wasnt great, but they cant be world beaters every game. Second line was showing signs of life, but overall an inconsistent game for almost everyone not named Copley who stopped what - 95% of the shots on him?

It's not on him but it feels like a transitioning no substance or evidence just a feeling

Ima have to disagree. He's 20-4-3. Beat Quick to fastest to 20. Guy may be a late bloomer in the NHL but he's taking his chance and dominating. I think he should get every respect deserved at this point, and it's Korpi's job to take it from him if he can - but Copley is my pick for #1 in the playoffs. The only reason to swap is if the Kings intend to hold onto Korpi for awhile and want to get him locked into the #1 position and gain that experience, as Copley is a bit older - but personally I'd save that for next year and let them duke it out - I think it's too fragile a part of the season for that kind of shenanigans.

It's fine to disagree and I'm not bashing you in any way. Think Korpi will earn the job, as I said earlier in truly grateful to Copley for singlehandedly saving our season but we need Korpi in the playoffs

Yea Copely has done great and hope he continues but the question that bothers me is playoff pressure and experience. Playoffs are at a completely higher level and I don't know how much exeperince Copely has in playoff hockey. Korpri does has have playoff experince and he was great. That is why I am leaning towards Korpi.

That's the thing isn't it? You just never know till you're in it.
Copley may turn into a monster because he'll finally be able to see the brass ring, figuratively speaking.
It would be unwise to not try and see what he can do.

Agree. The power play just hasn't been sharp of late. Then you take out Fiala and Durzi -- and to a lesser extent, Kaliyev -- and things get very stale in a hurry.

Everyone better get used to a few more of these. Ever since Dec 1 the kings have been playing 0.750 hockey. That's a lot of hockey at a very high level, not one that I expect them to sustain. Some regression to the mean is likely. For those that dont have a table handy, thats a 123 point pace. I don't care how good we think the Kings are, 0.700 hockey is 115pts and 0.650 hockey is 107. Those both feel more right. There's consistency, and there's consistency. Copley is riding a hell of a wave just like everyone else. He's been good, but the odds are they all are not capable of playing that level through nearly 60 games.

That's my thoughts. Quick didn't look great in any playoffs until he turned into beast mode in 2012. I don't remember much about 2011 besides losing to the Sharks. I think Copley is chomping at the bits, not for playoff experience, but playoff wins. I think he's earned his shot at the playoffs and would like to see him start.

I'm afraid that wound won't heal until at least Fiala is back, which is an obvious source of our wins - so the Kings might be in for some trouble.

The pp was stale lately with those 2 still playing.

I know MacEwen needs to get comfortable but, you lose a genuine threat by sitting Arty.
I'd like to see Rasmus on the pp, he has the skill and we know he's responsible enough to not take chances when it's not there, unlike Durzi.
