***New Jersey Devils vs. LA Kings GDT 1/14/23 7:30pm on BSW***

The Kings have 0 goals five on five tonight. They gave up 3 goals to the lowly Sharks last game. They have given up 4 to a real good team tonight. Quick should have saved at least one goal, however when you can’t score 5 on 5 you won’t win many games.

All that said and even true, this game should be tied 2-2.

I understand Copley is outplaying Quick. The Kings are winning games they are supposed to win. Boston and New Jersey are a different story.

Fair enough, if you have seen the statistics, the Devils have done this to many teams in the 2nd and 3rd periods. I just don’t believe the Kings are in the class of the Devils.

It's funny you mention stats but can't/won't acknowledge elementary school math.
You're acting like this team is doing what Carolina did to us.

Now you're just trolling.

Quick hasn't won a game since December 1. He'll be 0 for 6 after tonight with bad stats. I don't think it is a stretch to give him some of the blame.

The Devils have had the best play since the 2nd. Their D has cleared the front so that Blackwood can make the saves.

The division is tightening up with everyone winning except Vegas and Kings tonight.

Are you serious Clark? How was the 5 on 5 play tonight? So Quick gave up 4 to a second place team in probably the toughest division. Copley gave up 3 to one of the worst teams in the NHL last game. At this point, the Devils are a much better team than the Kings.

The Kings are not in the class of the Devils. This is simple math, 17-2-1 on the road. They have not lost to any team in the Pacific. 9-0-0
Is that not elementary math? Do records troll? The Devils played last night, the Kings scored two PP goals, which is great, however, against the second string goalie at home of a back to back.

Well, that was a huge disappointment. Worst home game of the season, I think - there might have been a stinker towards the start of the season that I'm forgetting. Just couldn't get anything going after the good start - every pass was a miss, and the Devils were just biding their time until we made mistakes.

Low energy crowd at the Stapler, too, despite the building being full (about 1/3 Devils fans, it seemed). Saturday night crowds seem to be more interested in watching people chug beers on the Jumbotron than actually watching the hockey game.

Blah!! on to Thursday.

I still don’t understand how Roy didn’t score in the 1st period. Or how Vilardi whiffed on the wide open net on the PP. Odd game.

Anyone absolving Quick of blame simply isn’t watching. He is lost out there. His angles are terrible, his confidence is shot and opponents know it. There’s a reason they occasionally shoot from the red line - because there’s a chance. The first play of the game was a shot in their end from the red line that he missed. It wasn’t on net, so it didn’t matter but right away you could see the confidence is not there. At 9 shots, they had three goals at 12 shots they had four. It’s starting to look like a stint in the minors may be his only hope - so he can play games that aren’t going to hurt playoff chances. Even Quick would blame himself for that one. It’s hard to watch especially because I think he can still be great, but the position is mental and he’s mentally lost out there.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed the gwg would be scored within +/- 1min of 7:40 of the second and/or that Tatar would score the first goal
