***New Jersey Devils vs. LA Kings GDT 1/14/23 7:30pm on BSW***

Anyone absolving Quick of blame simply isn’t watching. He is lost out there. His angles are terrible, his confidence is shot and opponents know it. There’s a reason they occasionally shoot from the red line - because there’s a chance. The first play of the game was a shot in their end from the red line that he missed. It wasn’t on net, so it didn’t matter but right away you could see the confidence is not there. At 9 shots, they had three goals at 12 shots they had four. It’s starting to look like a stint in the minors may be his only hope - so he can play games that aren’t going to hurt playoff chances. Even Quick would blame himself for that one. It’s hard to watch especially because I think he can still be great, but the position is mental and he’s mentally lost out there.

This. The defense plays different in front of Quick, because they don't have the confidence Quick will make the routine stops. If I've said it once, I've said it more than once, Quick is done.

It would appear that Blake, in addition to landing an impact LD, needs to find a solid, but cheap #2 goalie. The King's path to the post-season depends on something other than Copley / Quick / Peterson.

I'm Quick's #1 fan, but yes, he's done. It sucks. I was mad all game. He is playing like an absolute amateur. Easily should have been 7-2. Quick's lost it.
Byfield sucks. Why he is on the 1st line or 2nd PP I will never understand. Force from managemenet I guess to force him to be better? I've never seen a player want to get rid of the puck so badly every time it touches his stick. Edler sucks. Everything else looks good. 3 glaring issues. Ride Copley til he breaks I say.

Disappointing game. Kings brought it in the 1st, then back on their heels against a good team. Somewhat familiar pattern with Quick in net.

This is the last year of Quick’s contract. I would be surprised if he didn’t retire after the season is over. Maybe he’s dealing with an injury that we don’t know about. But if not, he doesn’t have it anymore. I’m sorry to say this.

Quick has not played in a while, he did not have a stellar performance, however you were not going to win against New Jersey scoring two goals. I'm happy with the PP, however 5 on 5 they were outmatched by a much better team. The Kings were physically out hustled by a team that played the night before. The Devils were coming in waves and Quick to my knowledge did not give up a goal in the 3rd, when the Devils had quality chances. As much as I like Copley, he is not winning that game. Copley will get the majority of starts in this upcoming road trip and on Thursday and LGK will get their wish soon enough. And for everybody reading, yes, I know Copley is better than Quick at this point. I like his calmness in net; however, it seemed by the comments after the Bruins game, that the team lost 5-2 and not Copley, last night it was Quick that lost 5-2 giving up four to a very good team at home.

Nedeljkovic is on waivers.... Just sayin', Blakey!

He's had 1 (one) good NHL season. And quite a few sub-par AHL ones.

I'd say the Kings are better off trying Villalta, too, and then eventually bringing Cal up again and hoping for the best. It's not like they can't make the playoffs with this goalie situation and it's not like they can win the Cup with a better goalie...no point in reaching like this.

I am a huge Quick fan, but yes, I can admit he has definitely lost a step in quickness and vision. But I still want the best for a player who put this team on his back a number of times over a number of seasons.

Since Quick has been relegated to the role of backup, then Todd should treat him like a backup. Any normal league coach would have put his backup against the lesser team this past week... San Jose. Then, a normal league coach would give the NJ game to your starter, a game against a stellar opponent. This seems like lineup mismanagement to me. I was shocked Quick was not in against SJ, but then had to face the Devils.

If Quick will be getting the occasional game at this point, then Todd (and the team) should put him in a better position to succeed. The focus should be to get him a frickin' win for confidence purposes.
