***New York Rangers vs. LA Kings GDT 11/22/22 7:30pm on BSW***

Why is this team so schizophrenic? I can count only one game where Kings played the whole 3 periods. They're lucky that the rest of the Pacific sucks. Oh, and I hate the Rags.

WTH do they have any concept of how to play with the goalie pulled?? Holy crap, dump it in race to the puck and create some havoc. That was pathetic

You get three on Igor, you need to at least get a point. Just a pathetic effort.

Love Fausts’ “In a playoff spot”. Sure, if the Kings get to play 95 games to everyone else’s 82, I like their chances.

The Petersen softie will be the difference. Sad to see…

With all the discussion about him building confidence, getting better, this is what tells me he’s never going to be the guy. He played a good game but when it mattered gave up not just a bad goal, a horrible goal. Player on a terrible angle to his right, no other player a threat own the middle and he’s a foot off his short side post. He needs to be hugging that post like his first high school girlfriend. There’s no excuse for that.

Good to hear Foxy is calling the lack of plays and the bad ones of Kings.

Coach doesn't seem too concerned that they lost this game. When he should be madder than hell!!

Exactly. The look on Cal’s face after that Kreider goal was scary. The kid is spooked out of his skin. Just when he was showing some flashes of confidence too.

I hope they all can turn the page on this one in the break. Ugly game after a flawless first period. And while not an excuse, this schedule has been a beast.

no NHL goalie should have as slow lateral motion as Cal does. I sit up high on the Kings defend twice end. I have never seen a goalie take what feels like 5 seconds to move across to the other side of the net. Not sure what happened on the fluke goal over his head, but it felt like he had no idea that had happened, either (?) It's like he's getting worse instead of better......

At least the game was somewhat entertaining as I sat in the ocean of blue jerseys. And the upstairs Wetzel's Pretzels was open.

It looked on tv like it was going to arc over him but caught Doughty's jersey by just a touch, which perfectly slowed it enough to fall into the net. Just a total fluke.

What's especially weird about Cal sucking is that we had like a decade of exemplary back-up goaltending. I can't even remember the list. Scrivens, Enroth, Jones, Campbell, Bishop, Kuemper, Budaj.

Not to mention the Bernier vs Quick competition.

All of them were serviceable and well coached. Then suddenly, at the twilight of Quickies tenure, we mysteriously went all in on Cal, and he looks perpetually like he's staring at the headlights of an oncoming semi.

The best part of this season so far for me is the ICEE machine. At least that hasn't let me down.

Still time to go on a run, but it's time now to make a move. Now. LD, GK, a winger could be in the cards.

Doesn't have to be a blockbuster, just channel a lil' Lombardi.

Must feel good being any other team facing the Kings this season. Even if you go down some goals you can always come back.

Feels like a lot of goals against Kings are them just getting flat out beat on the puck in their own end. Plenty of teams come in and have their way with their forecheck, or effectively regain control dumping and chasing. Lots of dangerous sequences, scoring or not, happen all the time against the Kings when they can’t clear the puck or get stripped of it in the d zone. Then the opposition looks like it’s on the damn power play. Failing to clear happens, but when it does against this team they can really struggle too long to regain control. Not sure what the fix is other than to say the d corps just isn’t good enough and feels like a real step back this year.

I feel that if we don't win another Cup now while Quick is still here and serviceable... we're in for some goaltending trouble for sure. Banking on Petersen/Villalta? Granted, Villalta hasn't been given a fair shot yet and is still really young. But that's not to say it won't be tough going.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed 16 credited assists in the game:

JETS GARAGE

Like the kings i fell asleep after the first. I appreciate Kopi's mantra of not to high, not too low, but they gotta get something going besides the low. Fiala and Gabe getting on the sheet was nice, Cal working hard in the latter part of the first and what appears to have been a heck of a second. They just have to find a way.

It's unfortunate but bad goals are going to happen from time to time. I recall Vernon having a tendency to give up bad goals yet he won multiple Stanley Cups. It happens... Overall Cal played a good game as was not the reason for the loss (I especially liked the stop on the Kakko breakaway). The Kings just made too many small errors in the 2nd and 3rd which cost them the game.

Arvidsson's blocked shot when he didn't have the stick showed a ton of heart and dedication, and Walker showed a lot more focus this game after giving up on the play in o/t last game. Really seems like his value is high enough now to trade him and clear the way for Clarke.

While I like Fox calling out players, I really wish he'd start calling out players equally. This season he has spent a lot of time singling out the goalies, but then never seems to comment when someone like Doughty makes a bone head play or Kopitar falls behind the play or takes a weak shot right into the pads.

Kings are definitely missing something this season, and that is leadership both on and off the bench. I expect this will improve when Iafallo returns, but hopefully the Kings can start building the next generation of leaders asap.

The only thing we can do beyond hope Cal gets better or Villalta develops into something, is to hit the free agent market or to make a trade with a team that has too many goalies. I don't know what happened to our goalie development.

I had to just listen last night. I don't know beyond the 4th goal if any other goals were Cal's fault, but that one shouldn't have happened. But I don't want to put the loss all on Cal. I don't know why the team started out so well & then just stopped in the 2nd. This team has been so inconsistent this season. We got 3 goals on the Vezina trophy winner. Which is a good thing but shows how much our defense & goaltenting needs to improve.

A much better team beat the boys tonight. Let's face it. They even spotted us 2 goals.

Are the Rangers much better? I watched a game where both teams controlled play for about 25 minutes. The difference being the best goalie in the world outplayed the Kings goalie. I would say that game was pretty damn even all things considered and with some better goaltending the Kings win that matchup.
