Finally we found a team that's worse off than us. And we took advantage of it. Anyway I was thinking, if Kuemper has been our best player this season, who's 2nd best? Could it be Forsberg? He's saved us so many times. More than just this game. Or maybe Clarke? So much of what good happens is because of him. Or maybe just Fiala or Kempe? They lead in goals & points, even though they're not having their best seasons.

I'm now fully on board the "trade DD to the Leafs until he still has some mobility left" train, with 4-5 million retained, for a 2028 1st rounder. Should be a lottery pick!

If he has good Olympics and wins Canada a gold medal the prices goes up even further.

I really don’t understand why giving Clarke a long term contract wasn’t a bigger priority for Holland. Even if Holland wanted to personally see Clarke earn a long deal wtf does he care? He’s gone in 3 years tops. Now whatever contract Clarke signs will be even more pricey than what it would’ve been prior to this season.

So close for many of the posters, Chateau Bow Wow and mugs were within 7 seconds of a point, then pray4mojo missed by 2 seconds. Not to be outdone Forum Gold said "hold my beer" and missed by 1 second. Glad to see Quick back, lol'd when he gave up the goal on the first shot (honestly not like he had a chance on it), but appreciated seeing him battle. Kuemper getting his head rocked is more than worriesome, but maybe Holland gets clarity? Before anyone gets up in arms about the Quickie quote, if it makes you mad, you weren't paying attention to the man at all. He's not big on sentimentality in the press. He'd rather have won that game, he liked his time in LA, he's still a hockey player until hes not allowed to be. Then he'll have time for that stuff.
 
Was at the game and crikey, why was I worried that the Kings would somehow give up the tying goals once Quickie was pulled...and they almost did! Q, ooof. those 2 lost faceoffs at the end almost cost us the game. That said, thought the boys played really well for most of the game. Still felt like they took their foot of the pedal towards the end and Clarke not playing the last 2+ minutes is all you need to know about Hiller. Still doesn't trust arguably their best defenseman.

I'd say Clarke is number 2...his fancy stats don't lie. Very consistent, usually the best dman on the ice for us. Fiala and Kempe just need to be more consistent...as does most of the offense.

I think team Canada should have selected Clarke over Doughty. I’m sure there other guys they would have selected instead, anyways, but can you imagine what he would look like, playing on a roster with actual skill, like Vegas, Colorado, or Dallas?

I get all the love for Clarke, certainly is fun to watch. But before we anoint him the next Norris contender I'd like to look at some fancy stats regard matchups. My contention is that Clarke is getting sheltered minutes against opponents 3rd or 4th line. I don't pay enough attention during the games to confirm my opinion and am too lazy to go look for the data myself. Anybody want to fact check me?

Definitely not a Norris type guy I agree, I don’t think he ever will be. I could still see his skating deficiencies/lack of foot speed on display in that second game against Anaheim the other night. There was definitely a stretch in the middle of that game where he was getting beat to every puck and turned inside out. It’s not much of a problem when the puck is on his stick, because he’s the one turning guys inside out.
