Nick Nickson retiring after this season

NOOOOOOO

Damn will miss ya Nick. Brings a class to the call that only Bob and Nick could bring.

"Go Kings - Nick Nickson" - 17 years ago - damn. This was from the Meet the Players the day after that Kings had a 4 goal comeback in the 3rd against the Stars. I remember thinking, my first and only time going to this kind of event, that'll be a bit glum after a 4-0 blowout, then they do some Miracle on Manchester style stuff and the energy was electric the next day.

I find a difference in broadcaster's ability to be able to reel you into the game if your eyes are closed or something - obviously, but for me in what I noticed in Bob and Nick's calls is that they could go on and tell a short story, always knowing when to pause, or interact with Jim or what have you, but they always had this profoundly professional way of segueing back into the action and making the interaction on the air seamless, which is something you flat out don't hear on like ESPN broadcasts, etc. This always made those two legends stand out the most to me personally.

I was there in section 100s for that game. Still in my top 5

Nick Nickson and Bob Miller are obviously both legends, individually. However, when they were a broadcast tandem in the 1980s (when I became a Kings fan), it was an absolute joy to listen to them both call a game (Bob with play-by-play, Nickson with commentary). They could make a lousy game (and there were plenty of them then) seem exciting. If you want to hear them at their best, watch a youtube of the Miracle on Manchester. Their broadcast adds another layer to an already legendary game.
Sorry to hear Nick is retiring, but at least we have one more season with him.
No BS. No catch phrases. They worked so well together. We had it really good.

The season hasn't started yet and I am already like...
