Official LA Kings Off-Season

We don't know that yet. Either one of them resigned means the Kings didn't waste the assets. Don't be so pessimistic.

Blake definitely sounds as though he wants to keep Gavrikov. That means roster players getting moved to make room. Changes coming...

it's completely within reason that spence and walker get dealt, and durzi and clarke fight over 7th D.

Curious as to how much trade value Spence has at this point. To my, as much as I like Durzi, I would put him on the block over Spence as the return should be far higher and Clarke would be Durzi's natural replacement.

I may be too high on Spence, but I really think he could fill a significant need despite his size. Moreso, though, I'd hate to trade him while his value is lower than it should be.

It looks like Jeremy Swayman is an RFA this year. Thoughts about trying to pick him up to shore up the goaltending for the future?

Swayman 3 NHL seasons:
88 GP 82 GS 54 W 23 L 2.24 GAA 2,148 S .920 SV% 9 SO

Korpisalo 9 NHL seasons:
221 GP 201 GS 94 W 81 L 3.01 GAA 5,749 S .904 SV% 4 SO

*NOTE: I know absolutely nothing of UFAs, RFAs, GM'ing and trying to sign free agents. But I do know we need a solid future with a goalie who can be the #1 for years to come.

Of course he wants to keep him, he played really well. I don't think the Kings can afford him, though unless Blake gets really creative, and that's not really his forte.

You’d have to trade for him as the Kings are too cash strapped to get in any sort of bidding war. Bruins appear set in goal with Linus so it’s a possible fit. But there’s the issue of Cal Peterson and his albatross contract to deal with. Blake has his work cut out for him.

Just watched the Blake exit interview...his comments on Cal "needing to be an NHL player" made me cringe. Whether that is to contribute to the Kings directly or give him some sort of trade value, I don't know how good I feel about counting on that...

Sounded like he knows that they will need to move assets - especially if he wants to get back in the first round at the draft or find a replacement for Edler. It would be genius if he can pull off keeping Gavrikov... but it could happen.

Iafallo plus Spence to get in the first round? That also clears cap for Gavrikov.

Wouldn’t mind seeing AI packaged for a solid 4th line center either. If we’re keeping Gavrikov I don’t know if there’s a version where AI stays also.

Watching Florida in game 7 last night, I saw a hungry team that hit everything in site and played to win. Compare The Kings game six, where they hit nothing and played not to lose.

Sounds as though they would be willing to add Arty to a package as well.

Not enough. He's probably looking for $6M plus and they need to pay Vilardi, JAD and Kupari. I assume they will be looking to trade Walker, which should clear up some room if they can do it, but he's making $3.3M next season and there won't be many takers at that price, if any. Blake would probably have to sweeten the pot to get a deal done. He would need to do the same with Petersen's contract, in a big way. He's got a lot of work to do.

For me it's not really about who's better, or who has more trade value. It's just a matter of dollars and what role does he fill. If the Kings ran two defensemen on each PP, maybe id think differently. But Durzi's role, currently, is 3rd pair and 2nd PP. And there's two guys that would be cheaper. If they can fill his role for less, and it helps them solve the hole at LD, that's pretty much what im advocating for.

TBH, i haven't seen enough of Spence to decide one way or another on his fit. He's going to have an uphill battle given how crowded the spots are and the likelihood that Clarke should push pretty hard for that 3rd spot on RD.

I think Gavrikov's sweet spot is 4.2-5.5. He's a defensive D-Man and they don't typically command that much. The market for defensemen will obviously factor this off-season, though.

Arty, Ras and QB getting their heads and game right is a must. Or move one of 'em.
The backlog on R-D must be figured out. Durzi was a nice surprise last year but, this year? Just doesn't cut it.
Time to move on from him and Walker. Give Spence a legit shot.
Most people recognize Todd is NOT the man to take them to the next level.
Those loaded Sharks teams not winning a cup shows he just doesn't have 'it'.
Find a forward or two with grit and sandpaper and size.
Blake showed he can be cut throat by trading Quick now it's time to show it in other areas.
He gave Walker & Petersen way too much money and hamstrung himself.
Move Walker, Durzi, Iafallo & (Arvidsson - don't want to, but...) to create some flexibility.
We're just good enough to lose in the 1st round.

The status quo will not win anything.

Man, crazy that DL made that decision. Richards is long gone and still being paid.

Dean biggest problem was his loyalty.
Signed Gaborik just to reward him = BAD

Feeling bad for Richards when he could have cut him loose = BAD
Dean said he didn't realize things about addiction to pain killers, etc.

He built a championship team. 2012, 2013, 2014 - 3 straight Conference Finals & 2 Cups - The greatest run in Kings history...
