The funny backstory is there were plenty of "incidents" of wrong flags displayed, at least one time even the wrong national anthem lol.

That's one of the reasons there's some "rivalry" between our nations in sports, and it felt great when we beat them in Sochi in their national sport (in Slovenia there are, like, 200 registered semi-amateur an professinal hockey players in total).

But I'm definitely rooting for them this year. 🙂

PS: are there any (knowm) Slovakian fans on LGK, considering Lubo and Palffy made quite an impact in LA? And there are probably more...

44 year-old Slovakian fugitive, wanted for 16 years, was stopped in Milan where he had come to cheer on his national ice hockey team competing in the Winter Olympics.

The man was hit by an arrest warrant issued by the Court of Bolzano in 2010 for thefts from commercial establishments.



The Carabinieri tracked him down after an alert was received from a hotel in the Baggio area: he must serve 11 months and 7 days in prison for property crimes. He was taken to the San Vittore prison.

Per NHL.com on March 9,2025:
Brock Nelson was traded to the Colorado Avalanche by the New York Islanders on Thursday for defenseman Oliver Kylington, forward prospect Calum Ritchie, a conditional first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, and a conditional third-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft.

Colorado also received forward prospect William Dufour in the deal, which New York followed up by trading Kylington to the Anaheim Ducks for future considerations.
