***Playoffs Rd 1, GM 3 GDT - Oilers vs. Kings 4/21/23 on >>BSSC<< & TNT***

Brad, the rules analyst guy on TNT, said the same thing to that effect. Even if Gabe’s stick touched it, it hit Ekholm’s back and nullifies a would be hit w/a high stick.

Just got home and what a game. I knew this game would go to OT. Korpi was amazing. Worth every penny and that kid that didn't want to sign. However, 17, you can have him back Philly. Come on boys, get another.

Korpisalo and Gavrikov were A+ additions. Blake deserves even more praise for that trade.

I would have thought it required possession by an Edmonton player to nullify a high stick, not just trickling down the Oiler players back, but if this is true, so much the better. That being said, all the high def close up views don’t show gabes stick touching the puck, and the only ‘high view distance vantage’ is nearly impossible to discern if his stick blade touches it. Based on the trajectory up and down, if his stick did touch the puck, it barely grazed it, and I have yet to see anything even close to definitive visual that it was touched with a high stick.

Inconclusive seems to be the correct call.

QB’s board work this series has been excellent to elite. That is one aspect of his game that didn’t exist before he came to LA and now it’s leading to great things like OT winners.

He had a nice shot in OT? I think.. was hoping he buried it for the confidence skyrocket effect.

Now I see a clip of the Sportsnet’s panel with Elliot Friedman and contradicts this because he said Ekholm would have to have full possession of the puck, but it just touched it. So confusing. Like Statue4Deano stated it all came down to it being inconclusive. I think Gabe’s stick might have grazed it. I’m glad it went to our favor but sucks that it’s marred in controversy.

I don’t remember a fanbase who whines and complains as much as EDM, maybe Vancouver, but this is another level.

My god the crying on Twitter is unbelievable. And then I see interviews from both Mc Crybaby and DraiCryer both blaming refs and you see where they get it from.

I've never wanted to win a series more. Winning this series and losing to anyone else would still feel like a victory.

And here's what Sportsnet (Canada) had to say about the situation

The NHL added video reviews for what it calls "missed stoppages of play in the offensive zone that lead to goals" ahead of the 2019-20 season. These reviews fall under a coach's challenge except for in the final minute of regulation and in overtime.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman provided more insight during a segment on Sportsnet Central after the game. In that segment, Friedman said the fact that the puck hits Ekholm in the back after the apparent high stick but before Vilardi plays it along the ice does not matter — a high-stick infraction is only negated if the opposing team has possession of the puck.

Additionally, Friedman said an anonymous general manager texted him to say plays like this were discussed at a recent general managers meeting.

"And they said we want goals, so if you're going to take goals off the board you better have proof that we should be taking goals off the board," Friedman said that GM told him was the takeaway from that meeting.

If we don’t come out and dominate a game, which we are totally capable of doing, I don’t see us winning the series.
So far we’ve had twice as many PPs including two key ones in OTs.
At no point has it felt like we’re clearly the better team. At many points it has felt like they clearly are.
