GDT ***Playoffs Rd 1, Gm 4 GDT - LA Kings @ Edmonton Oilers 4/27/25 >>6:30pm<< on TBS, tru, max & FanDuel***

The Kings are valiantly trying to keep my prediction of EDM in 6 games alive! I've had a "bad feeling" going into the series but after game 1 I was more convinced after letting them come back in the 3rd. It is even more ridiculous now.

Also, the Kings seem to have this dependence playing at home which troubles me. If that breaks down just ONCE it's over IMO due to their inability to win a road game.

They got "puck luck" in game 1- The Oilers got "puck luck" in game 4. I think the Kings can win in Edmonton as much as the Oilers can win in LA.

It isn't puck luck it is more of the KIngs playing like crap. It is symptomatic. Kings play to get the lead then go into prevent d and get beat. Kings sat back the whole third period standing on their blueline and got blown away by the Oilers speed and dominate play. The Kings are done. And will continue to be done umtil Luc, Blake and Hiller are fired and a new regime that knows how to biuld a winning team with a winning system is implemented.

I’m certainly not conceding defeat yet, but it sure is ironic (if that’s the right word) that after finally building a team that looks like it could defeat these Oilers, the Kings downfall in the 24-25 postseason is that they’ve been out-coached.

After a 9-4 goal differential in third periods, one would think that they would make the proper adjustments to fix that, but nope, they actually go back to the same system the Oilers made mincemeat out of in past postseasons. They’re really making use of that home ice advantage

I don't deny that either- I was frustrated as all heck with them sitting back in the 3rd int he last two games. I cant remember for the life of me seeing a team fail to clear the zone over and over and over again. So yea, symptomatic. But on the other side is that the margin of winning and losing was so small in these two games specifically can also be pointed back to this bounce or that bounce. Then again the Kings had themselves in position with a 2 goal lead heading into the 3rd to not rely on puck luck (bounces).

Any championship team has to go through adversity to some capacity (2012 may be the exception..lol) so we will see what they are made of tomorrow. Kings in 6!

It ain't over til it's over. Three game series now with home ice advantage. But talk about doing things the hard way.

And Hiller is proving to be just as stubborn as Coach Todd.

But quite frankly I'm more concerned about any potential psychological damage. Tomorrow night we will learn a lot about this team's mental toughness. Edmonton has all the momentum. Should be interesting.......

Oh yea, if they dont come through and win this series there will be lots of regret to go around. Massive missed opportunities. What gives me hope for them to still win is that there is not one game that they stole per se- every single game has been winnable. I do not see any reason for that to change.

And so it begins...

...I have a 'mostly' friendly back-and-forth between me and my longtime hockey buddies in St. Louis. I just got back from running some errands and sure enough my in-box is filled with some nasty stuff. Well, not neccesarily nasty, but not nice:

"Dude, I never laughed so hard in my life! What's up with your Kings? I've never seen a team have such a hard time clearing a f*cking puck..."

"If I were the Kings, I wouldn't let Byfield on the plane home..."

"Your Kings are giving the word 'choke' a whole new meaning..."

"You know the series is over, right? From a mental standpoint, the Kings might be the most frail team I've ever seen..."

"Sorry bud, but your Kings are choking big time..."

"You guys just handed the Oilers the series on a silver platter..."

God I hope the Kings can come back and win this series. I'll have some choice words for my buds...but if they lose, I'll never hear the end of it.

Whatever. These guys are still pissed off about 2012. This series ain't over yet.

I can't lie... Feeling like the 2014 SJ Sharks right now.

The only difference is that the Sharks were up 3-0 at the time right until they epically dropped the next four games in that series. This doesn't have the same feeling and isn't as embarrassing, but of course it's still frustrating.

Now imagine if the Panthers had lost Game 7 in last year's Cup Finals, that would have put them in the annals of dishonorable history of all time by joining the 1942 Red Wings for dropping the next four games after taking a 3-0 series lead in the Cup Finals.

2012 should be a real blur for those Blues fans since their team actually won the Cup seven years later (2019). They have no reason to be salty and rib on us now. Just pitiful.

Well, to be quite honest, I dish it out pretty good, too.

I think the last time I got in their faces I said, "Is Binnington still in therapy, or did he beat up his therapist?"

It's all good. I guess I deserve the ribbing. And the Kings are giving them plenty of fuel for the fire.

But if Edmonton comes back and wins two of the next three, I'll probably never hear the end of it. God I hope that doesn't happen.

Yeah, they finally won their Stanley Cup, and I'm happy for them. But in 2012 it was brutal.
Most of their ire was directed at Dustin Brown. One comment I'll never forget was "There's a special place in hell for dirt bags like Dustin Brown..."

LOL

"Frail" and "Choking" are spot on.

A special place in Hell? More like the Hell of Fame! Captain Brown is awesome, one of my favorite kings of all time.

I stayed off this thread last night after the game; I was too wound up to read or post. I pretty much agree with every take in this thread, there was no need to add fuel to this dumpster fire.

Game 5 is the series. I'd like a definitive, soul crushing win for the Kings. Put that doubt back in their minds.
