GDT ***Playoffs Rd1 GAME 4 GDT 4/28/24 7:30pm on BSW, TBS, TRU, max***

Kings outshooting the Oilers 20:10. But how many of those Kings shot were particularly dangerous? 2? Maybe. How many of those 10 Oilers shots were dangerous? 5 or 6? same old story. They cannot generate dangerous chances.
When you are a struggling team like the Kings, you have to simplify it down to quantity. I absolutely agree that the Kings aren’t putting on high quality chances, but enough low quality chances can work if you can’t do the pretty or gritty. When you are simply outclassed and outgunned, keep it simple north south hockey. You’re not the better team, just put as much rubber on the net as you can, sometimes something happens.

Exactly. What an offensive powerhouse. Even when they cycle the puck and tire out the Oilers they just put two forwards in front of the net and the puck goes to the point. Where is the forward lurking deep in the slot trying to get open for a pass. Frustrating watching them play and lose.

Dangerous slot chances? Where? Forwards are always to deep and have no open net to shoot at, if the puck happens to get passed to them.

If the approach is quantity over the quality then you need to get more bodies in front of the goalie. Screened goal and rebound goal are the only way they’re going win tonight. I’m not seen anywhere near enough traffic through 2.

Regarding the Kings' offense...

The good news: The Kings are shooting the puck more often in the O-zone.

The bad news: Skinner has stopped all of the Kings' shots on net so far, looking like Lundqvist.

Not that I want to replay THE trade but that is where this team misses Vilardi he was the Kings presence in front of the net
