As usual Kopitar not getting the credit he deserves. 4 point night,game tying goal,and receiving very little credit. If he played any other sport,but hockey he would be considered one of the top five athletes in LA sports over the last 25 years. great win!
 
I hope the Oilers' overconfidence finally bites them in their @ss this year against the Kings. What a way to start the series.

What a schizophrenic thread. Might not want to base your evaluation of the team for the year let alone the next five years on 20 minutes of hockey where they're thrown out, some of them for the first time, against a team that hasn't lost since about Valentine's Day and has multiple players with more points than our top two guys combined. Not that we don't have flaws but I read Kopi's obituary in here and meanwhile the guy - who has nothing to prove - just had a four point game. My god.

Total team win. Felt like Doughty really found his swagger in the 3rd and OT. Hopefully he brings that in Game 2. If the Kings can get the Oilers down 0-2 the amount of media pressure on McDavid and the entire team might just cause them to crack.

When he tossed McWhoever to the ice it was a statement. After they boo'd him relentlessly all night. We needed that to happen. That hit was for Mikey.

Just finished catching up now. What a game! Korpi with many clutch saves. Kempe's backhand goal was a thing of beauty. And we won? Speechless.
 
The OT winner made me think of the goal Jarret Stoll scored on Vancouver in 2012, I remember someone on here taking that pic of him yelling after he scored it and captioning it "YOU MAD BRO?" Wouldn't mind seeing a pic of Iafallo getting the GWG with the same thing.
 
my favorite part of this is that you can hear Doughty (?) cheer out a huge "YEAH!!" before the puck is even in the net. I'm assuming it's Drew because he would have had the best view to see that the net was going to be wide open for AI.

Game subtly changed after the hit. Kudos to Drew for really stepping it up and the whole team.

IDK what this means but I took off my '12 and '14 "lucky" jersey after the 2nd, mostly because I ran to the store and don't wanna get shot in south carolina for wearing a LA jersey, and didn't put it on when I got home, and uhh, yeah. Maybe time to retire the old purple Quickie.

I have 2 comments:

I am fast losing hope that Kupari will ever be a difference maker for the Kings.

I thought Doughty was abysmally sub-average in that game. Multiple instances of horrible passes and bad decisions that put his teammates in a bad position. He needs to step it up. A LOT.
 
Oh My God! I just finished watching the game & the post game show. What a win! To go from how it stared to how it ended was incredible. They went from going 0-4 on the PP to 2-6. And they went from 3 penalties in the 1st including a 2 man disadvantage with a PP goal allowed to just 1 more penalty in the 2nd & none in the 3rd. And it seemed like they got more confident as the game went on. So many guys had great games. Kopi, Kempe, AI of course. But our 2 additions from C-Bus had great games, along with Arvi & the rest of that line. Even Lizotte, who didn't have the best game drew a penalty through hustle.

I haven't checked if there's a WTS yet or looked on twitter. But from what I saw with the fans throwing stuff on the ice & knowing who these people are, I can only imagine the wailing & moaning going on with Oilers fans. But their players are the ones who took the penalties. While the Kings got more disciplined as the game went on, the Oilers got more undisciplined.

I know it's just 1 game. But stealing home ice advantage from them is huge. And I'm not sure but I think the game 1 winner wins the series close to 70% of the time. But I'm not counting victories yet. They just have to keep playing like they did in the 3rd & they could knock McJesus & the Oilers out & make all their fans cry. Damn, I'm still pumped up. If I don't relax soon I'm going to have to take a gummy so I can get to sleep.
