PLD and how I learned to quit worrying about the bomb

It’s a shame there was no way of knowing this before signing him to a 8x8.5 contract.
So we still have 7 years of hope?! (When you wish upon a star….we’re the Ducks?) Elmer Fudd can shoot me now.

Yes, Looney Toons and Disney should’ve merged.

PLD was literally on the ice for Calgary’s first 3 goals.
Goal 3…he coasted behind their net - not fighting for the puck that he could have - allowed the Flames to exit the zone.
PLD coasted to the bench as the Flames moved up the ice & scored.
He ended up with a -2…because technically he made it to the bench.

But in reality-his soft ass play behind the Flames net allowed the start of the rush.

So -3

He basically DGAF - Lizzo & JAD have 70% less talent - but they bust their rears shift after shift.

Time to cut bait. I’ve seen enough of Dustin Penner 2.0

It was painful watching him last night. Lost every puck battle along the boards and was always late reacting to the play. It's inconceivable that someone can get to this level, where his give a sh!t level is so low and his salary is so high. There has to be something wrong with him, and not physical.

This is exactly what I'm seeing. No sense of urgency, lackadaisical late to the play soft to the puck this is not NHL caliber. It's one thing to just not get the bounces it's one thing not even to show up.

Excellent write up. I’d add his disgusting turnover against EDM that completely changed the complexion of that game. As for last night, the Kings has no business winning, but the fact that they could have even gotten a loser point if not for just ONE of his egregious plays is just so insulting. As much of a self-own it would be to buy him out, I’m actually at that point now because paying even more for him clogs up the roster even worse.

He's a damn robot who apparently needs to be explicitly told to do any single thing he does, and

He showed plenty with his time in Columbus and Winnipeg. Blake is stupid.

this. At the trade all I read from other teams (fans) was how lazy and careless he is. Why anyone thought differently is a bit beyond me. I don't get how they managed to foist this dude so hard on Blake.. well I mean yeah I do but still. I was mad at the trade and I stopped posting here for awhile (it was also boring summer) because everyone told me to shut up he's great -- hardy har.

lol. first in somethin i guess.

honestly it's not even him I'm upset at. He does his thing, his agent does his, and Blake did his. I blame the latter. It's the contract and the handicapping of the team's salary cap that is the real problem. PLD be doin PLD things and always has. He's fleeced enough GMs - because I think somewhere deep inside he might be a good hockey player and shows it when he needs to, but he quits absurdly easy to have made it to being almost a $10m a year player. He'd make more being an actor I think? Or is that what he's already doing?

Dog advocate and Alexander Daigle career impersonator.

If it wasn't for all the injuries I'd say it's time for him to ride the pine.
It's pretty apparent that any threats from upstairs or "come to Jesus" talks only lasted a few days.

you know the old adage about how a tiger can't change it's stripes?

Lombardi placed much more emphasis on character than Blake does. We are going to end up badly losing both the Fiala and Dubois trades

Character is huge, what would Blake know about that anyway?

If we buy out PLD (WE SHOULD) it's admitting it's a mistake, so Blake should be fired by the new GM since he will take the whole team down with him.

The only way the pld contract makes sense is if Blake was getting a cut.

How is "team leadership" letting him get away with this level of "I don't really care" ? Are Kopitar, Doughty, etal. really saying nothing ?????

Fiala is fine. Buyout Dubois. Fire Blake. ???. Profit.

Fiala is fine?
How do you not see his horrible turnovers and mental lapses?
And who do you think that Doughty was talking about here?

“I think we got guys in this room who are too worried about themselves and worried about their points and worried about stuff like that,” Doughty said after they finished a 1-2-1 homestand at Crypto.com Arena to bring their home record down to 8-9-6.
The consensus was he was talking about Dubois and Fiala

With all due respect, Doughty should be worried more about his own play and leading by example. He has looked horrible for a $11m/year player and even moreso now that Anderson is not there to help cover up his mistakes or his moments impersonating a forward.

With Fiala we knew what we were getting and guess what, it's what we got. He has worked hard to improve but let's be honest, his turnovers and mental gaffs will likely always be there - as will his elite offensive skill. Putting him in the same category as a player like PLD is nonsense.
