PLD and how I learned to quit worrying about the bomb

Just tell her it was a good thing you didn't bring the ether...

The EDM and CAL games broke me re: PLD. Even in the first period against the Oil I praised him getting in front of the net for that first goal. I’m tired of hand-holding this guy like he’s a prospect and looking for any little detail that hints at a bright future. That giveaway late gave away the game.

He’s had some awful efforts but CAL may truly be the worst of them. Allowing himself to get outmuscled on those goals was an insult to every teammate he has. I very much doubt you can win with him.

A buyout is horrible, but it feels like the way. At its worst the approx. 3.5m is going to hurt especially as Q starts to really get paid. But 3.5 is better than 8.5. Whomever is paid to take his center role can do it at less than 5 and it’ll still be less than his contract and he won’t be here, which is feeling imperative. The center lineup not even thinking outside the organization could be Byfield, Turcotte, Danault, and Helenius. Could be something good there.

I’m glad PLD didn’t blow it last night with his 13 minutes of ice time. I’m glad LAF played 15 minutes. He’s earned that.

seems like the role PLD has in mind doesn’t exist in the NHL. his interview after the 2/10 EDM was a tell.

"Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?"

I could have sworn I wrote this post myself. At first I thought it was me!

OT

I had to put my beloved mini-Dachshund 'Otto' down today

He was 12 years old and slept on my pillow every night

He was my best friend in the world

Sometimes my only friend

I'm beyond sad

You're right...I haven't been here long enough to have participated in every conversation about Kopi's effectiveness as a Captain. So I will simply relegate my written opinions to the last 2 months of this current season where there is ample evidence for it to be a relevant topic of conservation yet again I'm afraid to say. Sorry. (And my post was a response to someone else's comment about this apparently very delicate subject. He started it. lol.) Anyway....back to the REAL problem with the team and to get back on subject...PLD!!! YAY!

People shouldn't badger about join dates to begin with. They should just bash PLD.

Condolences Reg.

Said goodbye to my 15yr old border collie last year...hard to part with someone whose only goal in life is to give unconditional love. Peace.

Tuned in to the Jets game today just to remind myself of how "bad" the PL trade was. Vilardi out again--upper body injury.
the 'Vilardi is always injured' narrative is only going to work if PLD is outscoring him - which he's not, so it looks even worse. Therefore, I'd still take an injured Vilardi every day of the week if he's producing more points than the bum who takes up a roster spot every night.

Just an observation, I'm watching Rempe on the Rangers. he's a huge big player ,not very skilled but at least he's hustling hard and bending his knees to get low quick to make an effort even though he sucks.

In contrast, watching PLD, he always stands upright, knees are not bent for core strength and center of gravity.

Overall, PLD doesn't seem to be engaged, because he's content just to be around the play especially on the boards.

Hey Reg, so sorry to hear about Otto and your aunt. What a brutal week, wishing you all the peace you can get as you grieve them. Take heart here where you can and know that I’m glad you’re back on this board - it’s good having you around.

As for PLD, looks like the Devils game was what counts as one of his good games. Half-yay. Still feel what I wrote in this post. It’s games like last night that I’ve been hanging on all year because I want this player to succeed, but last night should also be his floor, not his ceiling. It says a lot that a game where he logged 13 minutes, one assist, and some finished checks is cause for positive attention.

Mabe he's just super efficient at pacing himself for the playoffs? 🤔

Do we know for sure that he has zero trade value? Like...even for MTL or OTT with 3m retained? Even if he shows up big in PO somehow?

Jesus f'ing Christ...what a story Rob won't ever tell his grandkids...
