I think the Kings will be a playoff team but reaching WCF they have a ways to goes to bet there.

Bottom line, just make the playoffs, hopefully everyone stays healthy for the most part. That is the State of the Kings.

BTW, I still believe NHL people believe it was a fluke that the Kings made the playoffs this past season. Especially with Arvidsson, Doughty and Walker down for most of the season and all of the playoffs. Somebody stepped up for those three, just saying.

I have always supported our veteran's administration, so there is still some love.

While the VA does some great work, I have to say my dad wasn't always pleased with the care. Then again he wasn't much for taking care of himself so they probably weren't the biggest issue.

Santiclaws as submitted to the dark side. Welcome. Note our spirit animal below.

But how do you measure your fan dollar against that level of success? Not buying till WCF tickets go on sale? Or an expectation of WCF as a message and you'll get your season tickets? Setting and achieving an expectation are best enjoyed on the ride (imo)
Moved to NJ a few years ago, so my only NHL related expenses are streaming the games and time spent. I'm fairly detached from the younger players, and not much inspired to invest in them.

The time switch is brutal, moved to Midwest some years back and it's been harder to justify a late Wednesday night to watch them lose to the peg at home.

Since I too buy a streaming package and maybe attend a game when in season I know the organization doesn't cater to me much (although I'm definitely trying to go to fantasy camp again). I will say my kids are learning to be fans from afar and hopefully there will be a reason for the franchise to develop their Fandom from afar on the bottom line.

All that said, they probably take our opinion compared to a season ticket holder and.....

The midwest*, eh? Oof. That's like sci-fi crazy to me. I'll say this though, the further I moved away from Los Angeles the bigger Kings fan I became; had to root for the squad (& make time for the games) it was my hometown. So perhaps your kids will feel the same.

*aside: they green lit another season of "Fargo". Seasons three and four need a re-watch for sure but that guy with bulimia still freaks me the eff out.

Another season coming? Woo-hoo!! Anyway, no one creepier on that show (or on TV) than this dude:

Did a state of the franchise thread turn into which “Fargo” villain is the most disturbing? Dope! The off-season rules.

Agree to disagree. Billy Bob as the showy narcissist psycho in a hair piece I feel like I would see coming and avoid like the plague. But season three’s VC Varga was unassuming, intelligent, connected on a high-level, wealthy, and invisible. And his reasons for being that person (a class war is coming) chilled me to my core. Dude is a ghost. Furthermore, if I had any real villain value, it would take him like half a Heineken to recruit me. Scary.

I think this season the Kings will have a harder time making the playoffs than last, despite being a sizably better team. Competition has gone up, and other teams are apt to take the Kings more seriously this season after last years performance. That said they are no where needing a full rebuild/fire sale but also quite far from being a contender to make the WCF. Keys will be: Injuries, how well Fiala/Kopitar gel, can our defense remain in position while upping the physical play come playoff time, and at least 3 rookies/young players taking a sizable step forward.

It'll be a fun season to watch!

These Fargo clips are suddenly making the makeup choices Mike Meyers chose in the Pentaverate make sense. I watched about 3/4 of an episode and it was amazing, I was spellbound, but I still couldn't tell you that it was a good thing.

With the appropriate expectations it'll be a fun season to watch. I keep flashing to the team going 23-6-3 against the eastern conference and I know that's going to regress. The team had no business having a 0.750 points percentage in those 30 games. If they matched their record against the west they would have finished under 90 points on the season. Lots of reason for optimism but they have to improve their divisional record for any hope at progress.

The rebuild is basically done, they will fine tune moving forward but I think the worst is behind us (watch them miss the playoffs now)

The guys they've added (i'm sure there will be more over time) + the kids will build the new core the old core continues to retire. The only real question is if the kids will blossom or die on the vine.

Golden Knights are hockey’s version of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - they have gotten worse instead of better each season since their “birth” in the League.

To be fair though, they set the bar pretty high during their first season. They feel like the ultimate instant gratification organization though - immediate success out of the box, followed by impatience leading to poor long term moves (lowering Organizational health), and ultimately frustration.

Seattle, by contrast, seems to be doing things the exact opposite (and more traditional) way of building slowly through the draft. I think in 3-4 years the Kraken are going to be giving the Kings more fits than the Golden Knights.
