Kempe and Fiala looking good on that goal.
pretty sure Blake is doing the math right now trying to figure out how to keep Clarke in the NHL
We might finally have a scary PP. Fiala might finally be the shooter it was missing. The threat of him with the puck got Kempe that shot.
Hilarious... Kings tough guy Jacob Doty hits Pietrangelo hard, and Doty senses somebody behind him and immediately drops his gloves only to discover Chyka...who clearly didn't want anything to do with fighting Doty. I just haven't seen a guy drop em like Doty did in that situation
One of Chayka?s biggest moments of the game came in the first period when he stood up for his teammate after Kings forward Jacob Doty laid a monster hit on Pietrangelo. Chayka threw on the brakes and skated at Doty, who dropped his gloves instantly. Chayka declined the fight and left an impression on Cassidy.
We've got to talk about Brandt Clarke. Physically he looks like a child but my word has he got the offensive skills and just completely fearless. He's certainly not Doughty but his approach/demeanor with the puck on his stick is very reminiscent of young Drew Doughty. It's such a shame he wont be able to play in the AHL this season. There's nothing left for him at the junior level. The kid is already a pro.
Totally agree, if not for the fact that he would physically get crushed in NHL (and likely injured) he'd be ready to join the big club.
I think we've got two keepers in Clarke and Spence. Spence isn't nearly as flashy but he's a gamer. Very high compete level and he's only 21! Mix in Anderson @ 23, Durzi @ 23 and Bjornfot @ 21, the Kings blueline has got some very interesting young pieces. We probably won't hold onto all of them but if they all keep developing Blake has some very nice trade chips.
Frankly, I'd be all for packaging Durzi to get some pics, as I don't see a fit for him anymore
I would want a big return. I feel like Durzi provided 90% of what was hoped/expected from Clarke. Aside from being a game breaker, he did everything you'd want from a puck moving defenseman. He was able to QB the PP without being too much of a defensive liability. He played well in the playoffs. Spence is younger but his lack of size was sorely exposed in the playoffs and he deserved to be scratched. Durzi was good to stick in the lineup and he also played bigger/tougher than his size. Those 2 inches and 19 lb that Durzi has on Spence were very useful in the playoffs.
The Kings look to have an embarrassment of riches at RD even after trading Faber for Fiala.
After watching the replay, it seemed to me that the PP produced the game winner by keeping the puck moving quickly and away from Kopitar on the half wall. The accurate, rapid passes by Spence, Fiala and Juice were a joy to watch.
I know I will sound like a hater but they'll fall back into bad habits soon enough.
