Some random observations from last night's game...
Horrible start with a bad bounce off the boards. I couldn't believe it happened. We needed some puck luck to win this game and that was the polar opposite.
Kopi looked his age last night. It looked like he was wearing lead skates dragging a piano.
Trevor Moore played a great game.
Quentin Byfield did not play a great game.
Kempe's play on the shorty was laugh out loud hilarious. First he whiffs on the shot then deflects the puck into his own net. Comedy Central.
Horrible timing pulling the goalie. DJ should have waited at least another 45 seconds.
Wedgewood made some unbelievable saves. If he keeps playing like this Colorado will be tough to beat.
And last but not least, I have no problem with fans going to other cities and screaming for their team, even if they're drunk and obnoxious, but they were using the word f*ck every time they open their mouths:
"Shoot the f*cking puck!"
"Byfield you f*cking suck!"
"Hit that f*cking guy!"
"Ref you f*cking suck!"
"Forsberg you're a f*cking bum!" Etc etc...
We finally moved in the third period because we couldn't take anymore. As much of an issue as I had with them screaming profanities in my ear all night, what really bothered me was the fact the couple next to us had their two small children with them. Five and six-year-old kids should not be subjected to that constant barrage of foul language. That's the problem with sporting events: You can drink as much as you want before and during the game and these people were two sheets to the wind before the game even started. My buddy said "How is it possible we ended up with these morons behind us." Then I reminded him what happened at the Colts game last year at SoFi Stadium. Colts fans next to us were so drunk they kept spilling beer on everyone. By the end of the game I was literally soaked with their beer. Idiots.
Anyway the Kings played pretty well in all three games, but between their goalie and all those big bodies with all that skill, we never really had a chance. It wouldn't surprise me if the Avs make it all the way to the finals.

I would (and did) argue a ponderous Kopitar had as much to do with neutralizing the Kings best 2 players as the Avs. He simply can't keep up with the pace. Same as Doughty. Old and slow is a fatal combo in the NHL.

We considered it, but decided it was easier to move. With all the concerts and sporting events I attend, I've become very adept at findng empty seats. We located two emtpy seats on the aisle one section over and at the beginning of the third period we made our move.
I'm still amazed how inconsiderate people can be. They had to notice the little boy and little girl sitting right in front of them. Their parents were very timid milquetoast types, and you could tell they were upset, but they just endured it like the rest of us.
Quite frankly I found it embarrassing. The woman behind us was the loudest one in the group. You'd think they'd act like civilized people when they're in another city, but they were 'in-your-face' types and once the Avs got a lead, they got even louder and more profane. They were so drunk I'm surprised they could walk up and down the stairs without falling down.
I get that it's all part of the deal going to games, and I accept that, but sometimes it still blows my mind how some people act in public. And as bad as those morons were last night, we've had even worse experiences at SoFi. It's just the way it is when you mix sports and copious amounts of alcohol...and low IQ individuals like those four idiots last night.

It really shouldn't be part of the deal with going to games. I'm surprised, though, that the usher/security didn't address it without you having to say something. I'm sure if you tried to address it directly it would have gone downhill quickly.
Best possible outcome was to move seats instead of enduring it, well done.
So I went last night with my Doyer baseball (So he's used to winners 
) buddy. They played hard up until the middle of the 2nd. So hard and well that I was saying to myself, "Self they are getting more SOG and scoring chances this game than I have seen in a long time." Then after the 10 min mark of the 2nd its like the switch turned off. No more SOG, no more scoring chances, hell they didn't even cross the redline anymore. Even my baseball buddy asked whey they kept passing the puck backwards back into the d zone and not forwards towards the redline.
We were sitting on the Kings shoot twice side so I didn't see the puck go off Forsberg for goal #1 and I didnt see Kempe knock in the SH goal until I watched the replays.
In typical Kings fashion, all of a sudden they play hard again way too late for the false hope EN goal. Only to give it right back with the bonehead goalie pull with the puck in the neutral zone.
The kings cannot play a full 60 minutes of hockey if their lives depended on it.
Sad thing is because they made the playoffs DJ will stay as head coach and we will continue to suck as usual.......

Yeah, we were concerned if we got the ushers involved it would have gone sideways. We were hoping maybe the parents of those two kids were going to say something, but the prudent thing to do was just move somewhere else. With all the fights I've seen at SoFi, I just try to avoid confrontations at this point. And the seats we relocated to were ten rows closer to the ice. But man oh man I was hoping the Kings would win and shut that stupid b*tch up. But she just got louder and louder.

We had a shrill Karen in sec 306 that kept yelling "Shoot it!" like a damn newb during the early Gretzky era. The Avs fans we had around us were well behaved and having a good time. The couple next to me drove 6 hours from Arizona to be at the game. That is dedication.

Why does this series and playoff defeat not hurt as much as the previous. Is it because we all knew the outcome before the series started? Or is it because we couldn't believe they even made the playoffs with the amount of regulation wins the Kings had this season?
I personally am OK with the sweep. With that said, when the Kings win the next four, a lot of you are going to have a lot of explaining to do.

Ceci annd Dumo are signed to multi-year deals. Therefore, he won’t be addressing the D issue. In his mind the issue was solved by signing them. Plus neither have much trade value, unless a team has injuries and are desperate for an AHL replacement.

This is the least hurt by Kings’ losses I’ve felt in my life. So that’s a nice change of pace.

Well, as much as it is painful for the Kings to lose these games, at least they're not facing Deadmonton so it isn't that bad losing to Colorado as it is to the former. But the Kings' O is not heating up enough to try and overcome the Avs, so there's still an understandable sense of frustration among us fans.

The die was cast when the Kings lost the final two games of the season and guaranteed a matchup with Colorado. Not saying they would’ve fared much better against Edmonton but there’s no configuration of this Kings roster that can beat a healthy Avs roster 4 out of 7 games.
Personally I’m satisfied seeing a team that hasn’t rolled over but instead has lost all 3 game because they just aren’t nearly as good as their opponent. No blaming the refs or bad breaks or what ifs. The Avs are just really ****ing good.

I commend your patience and resolve, but I would’ve thought, “Screw this, I’m saying something.” For the milquetoast parents and their kids, my basic sanity, and for humanity (that needs a swift kick in the ass in general).
And if you have to drop the gloves, you’ll be past it in five. Right?

@Statue4Deano summed up perfectly below your post why this is not painful or even frustrating.
Sure, you’d like to see Doughty and/or Panarin hit the open net Game 1. But the puck was rolling and hockey is fast. The problem is all we have for missed offense that game is those two opportunities. Avs have far more missed grade A chances than the Kings because they are the class of the league.
And yet, part of why the Avs have missed so many dangerous opportunities is because Kings have been playing as well as they can, which is all you can ask against an opponent who is in a different league than you.
I’m thinking of this series loss as data. Doesn’t matter how predictable it was, it’s still import for Holland to see the Kings lose to a different team in a different way. Losing to EDM a fifth year in a row would be pathetic, but it would also square the team in far too familiar a place. It’d just be the same story. There’s more contrast to see the Kings play well enough to steal a game or two and still come up empty. Holland should have defined areas to note why the Kings’ best effort is just good enough for them to survive long stretches vs. being at all dangerous. And the areas that are positive about their performance provide a baseline to start from as this team is redesigned this offseason.
As others have said, we need mobility on the backend. This series helps show that. Kings need to play physical and have a strong and consistent forecheck. This series reinforces that. Two examples.
