Resigning Scott Laughton

What would be the cap hit resulting from buying out Doughty? The other option is a trade with $$$ retained. Either way, he needs to go. Drew has proven his unsuitability at 1D. Ask him if he will accept a lesser role. When he declines then he must go. At $11 million, he is hurting the entire organization.
I don't need Doughty to leave. He only has 1 more year. I just need him to accept a lesser role on the team. And for whoever's coaching to put him in that role. Doughty need to take a lesson from LeBron James of all people. He saw that on the Lakers we was the 3rd best option behind Doncic & Reaves. And he accepted that role. Doughty needs to do the same. If not then yes, trade him.
Lots of questions with Kopi leaving, and the way QB is playing with Laferrière and Moore.. makes me wonder if they will try to slot Turcotte in between juice and bread on the 1st line, to see how that goes. Then sign Laughton to keep that 3rd line churning. There are almost no UFA centers of note coming available, so..
I really don't know about Turcotte as an option. His only advantage is that he's under contract for next season. But right now he can't crack the lineup. And even when he did he didn't have much of an impact. So can he really play 2C or even 1C and succeed? The best thing is if he's part of a package to get a 1 or 2C.

And yes we need to resign Laughton. I thought from day 1 they should've given him an extension. He's the perfect 3rd liner for this team.

Yeah the thing is, nobody’s trading a REAL number one center our way, unless Byfield or Clarke +++ is going back the other direction, which just creates more gaps. Turcotte is likely just going to have to be a stop gap/hold over until the season after next. Maybe Vancouver still wants to move on from Petterson, but at what cost? If it’s Turcotte, one of our goalie prospects, and a 1st, then sure, maybe it’s worth the gamble, but I am doubtful that gets Vancouver in the mood. Maybe if you can trade Turcotte for a low end veteran 2C such as Strome, and hope the skill shines between juice and bread.. but I’m of the opinion that if it comes to that, maybe it’s better just to let Turcotte have a go and hope he has a mild resurgence like Mittelstadt. Like I said, as long as you have a center who can win faceoffs and play with pace on that top line, it might be just as good as playing ‘go fish’..

So I was thinking the same thing about having a ton of space available but noticed one of the bloggers saying that in reality there is only 2-3 million once the Kempe & Panarin contracts kick in. I think the blogger is mostly correct though which is worrisome.
I just looked; including Panarin and Kempe's new contracts, the Kings have about $85.5M in contracts committed for next season. The cap is projected at $104M. Say they give Clarke $7M; they'll have $11.5M in space.

I can't imagine the Kings are remotely considering playing Turk at 1C or 2C. The guy is a healthy scratch while Ward and Wright are playing; but suddenly he'll be handed a top six role? I'll be surprised if he's not traded this summer for a bag of pucks.
