So, what should happen to Frozen Fury?

Frozen Fury was at it's best as an in-between pre-season game in Vegas against Colorado, Phoenix, or San Jose. All teams could get to it in a day's drive, and hey... it was Vegas... where everyone loves to go for fun. It lost it's charm when Vegas got a team and it moved to Utah, and now Utah has a team. It has actually fulfilled it's destiny to bring more teams out west. Do we let it die a noble death well done? Are their other venues people would want to go where team fans could make a day's drive? Could we play in Sacramento? Phoenix? Bakersfield/Fresno? Portland? Albuquerque? Palm Springs? Maybe San Diego? Any thoughts?

Kansas City for the next Frozen Fury! Dew it Deano!

But in all seriousness, they'll probably keep using the name when the Kings play the Coyotes in Utah.

Hawaii! 🤗🏝️ But more realistic, perhaps Palm Springs? They have a nice new arena where the Coachella Valley Firebirds play. Wouldn’t mind laying poolside somewhere during the day, then catching an NHL game at night there 😎

All you need to do is play Seattle there. It's their minor league team. The team can enjoy more summer heat and experience the nightlife in the desert for a weekend. Great arena as well, I have seen the Reign play the Firebirds multiple times in the regular season and playoffs. And best of all, it's about a mile away from the desert home.

That arena holds 11,000.... plenty big enough. I think that could be a winner. Perhaps a rotation between Coachella and Bakersfield? Bakersfield has Mechanics Bank Arena for the Condors (holds 8,800) and is Edmonton affiliated. The city is more than twice as big as Salt Lake.

The NHL should be begging the Kings to do Frozen Fury in Portland, OR
Based upon the track record, they would have an NHL team there within a few years

With all due respect, what exactly is the draw for having an event like this in Bakersfield, especially this time of year? Frozen Fury (which, one could argue had its origins in the 1991 outdoor preseason game against the Rangers) and Vegas fit hand in glove. Anywhere else and all the charm is gone. It’s time for it to retire.

True. But the same could be said of Salt Lake City... yet that's where it's been. It is a treat for fans in Bakersfield to see an NHL level game... likely between the Kings and Sharks or Kings and Knights. Probably sell out the arena just with local fans.

Actually, why not Reno?
I hadn't thought of Reno. But no ice hockey center. Lake Tahoe has an echl team that plays at Tahoe Blue Event Center. It only holds 5000 though. But I would go.

But if they are looking at potential places for a team, it's hard to pass up Portland, OR.
