So, who do we keep, trade or promote?

What’s Chychrun got to play for right now, though? I’m sure he realizes management had thrown in the towel before the season even started, and with these physical sports, players will always understand that the regular season is the time to pace themselves. If he gets hurt out there, he’s -definitely- not getting traded out of Arizona, so I can’t see as he would be all that inclined to lay out, block shots, etc. For all we know, Yotes management may have even subtly suggested that he not play a ‘win at all costs’ type of game

On another note, back to the trade/promote discussion, has Lias Andersson actually gotten a fair shake with the Kings this season? I’m pretty sure his usage was very minimal, grinder type deployment. I would have liked to see him play with a distributor like Kopitar or Fiala. In fact, he should probably be getting a look ahead of Kupari, Fagemo, Turcotte, and possibly even Byfield, particularly since he’s absolutely waiver eligible at this point.

Chychrun is a game day scratch for trade related reasons. That that saga should finally be coming to an end.

According to fan response on social media, Chychrun has been traded to each one of the other 31 teams...

Bye-field, Moverare, 2023 first and 2025 2nd rumored for Chychrun. It is a "deleted tweet" so that that for what its worth; best comment on HF Boards was it was Nigerian Prince type material.

Sounds like BS to me. If Blake does that trade he should be fired on the spot. Deduct Byfield and instead add Turcotte and I’ll be fine with the trade. But doubt Arizona agrees…

I heard it was George Santos who negotiated the deal.

Yep. IF you trade QB and a 1st the return MUST be much better.

The rumor in the press box, straight from someone that was in the box, is that it's an 80% chance that JC will be a King by Monday. Supposedly it was not announced tonight as they did not want to take away from Brown's ceremony.

I think it gets done without Byfield. May require more picks.

If they deal QB55, then we better be getting more in return, and they should eat half the cap hit for the remainder of the contract.

Turcotte, Durzi, and a 2nd should be sufficient to get it done, no? I think both of those players are at least representative of -late- 1st round value. Or if Arizona prefer kaliyev, Spence, and a 2nd. Again, that’s like two late 1sts and a 2nd in my eyes.

Nobody ever wants to lose potential high end players, and I think any of the 4 names mentioned above could eventually be top 6 forwards/top pairing defenders, but the fact of the matter is that we simply don’t have the roster space for most of them. Makes sense to consolidate quantity into quality as best we can now before losing these guys to waivers, even if it means two of them are eventually comparable to a guy like Chychrun. Bottom line is, the majority of them might be contributors, but it’s unlikely it’ll be with the Kings.

Chychrun is not the answer. I don’t even think he is a piece of the puzzle. He is often injured, plays in spurts and does get beat. Arizona knows this and they are looking for a steal.

Id have some serious questions for management if QB is part of the deal. You passed up on a legit scorer to take QB who needs time to develop - fine, I’ve accepted that. But if you turn around and trade that for a good, not great, defenceman then you may not know what you’re doing.

That lackadaisical play the other night raises questions for me. I've never seen a Kings player do something like that.

On the other hand, he's playing on a team whose record is 17-28-8. He leads the team in ice time at 23 minutes a night and is somehow a team leading +8 even though Arizona has a -47 goal differential. A point behind Gostisbehere for the leader in points among their defensemen (7 g, 21 a), although he's played in a dozen less games.

He's having a hell of a season so far.

The Kings need a LD. Chychrun is a top LD on a team friendly contract. He's actually good at both ends of the ice too. A trade package of crap isn't going to move the needle. Armstrong has already waited a year on the deal. I don't see him jumping on a package which combines a few of Durzi, Spence, Turcotte, Kupari, 2nd round pick, etc.

So one single play rules Chychrun out of the discussion?!? A guy who eats minutes, has size and scoring, and has put up great stats this season.

That's like saying Ovechkin sucks because of this play:

It's an interesting (to me at least) total contradiction I have in my opinions. One opinion is I don't want a quitter. The contradiction is I want some players who let their emotions get the better of them sometimes. I can't imagine how frustrating it is for him to play for a team that seems to be perpetually 5+ years away from being even good.
