Our rookie team won in a shootout last night 4-3 (we beat the team 9-0 last time). Kudos to Peggy_GKG for stepping up and trying defense for the first time in a game situation. Overall, the game was atrocious, I know Ii should be happy we won, but the overall play left a bad taste with me. They brought in a ringer who was pretty good, dangled our team multiple times throughout the game and top shelved a beaut backhand over my shoulder on my blocker side, i thought i had played it perfectly. Someone on our team tripped someone from behind in the first period on a play that wasn't even remotely a breakaway and they were awarded a penalty shot...in which I stuffed. Also ended up stuffing all three of their shooters in the shootout and thank the lord someone on our team actually scored during the 3rd round of it.
Myself, our coach and captain seriously believe the team is regressing...it is sad. It is frustrating telling returning players the same thing multiple times a game that i told them multiple times a game all last season, simple stuff too. Such as, here is where you line up for a face-off. Take a look before sending a blind backhand pass across the middle from our own corner, keep your stick on the ice, keep two hands on your stick and last but not least, skate hard.
Oh well.
