The All Things MLS, NWSL, USMNT/USWNT et al Thread

Sure, why not. An improvement over Micovic, but if Vanney thinks goalkeeping is THE problem with the defense......oh boy!

CENTERBACKS!!!!! QUALITY CENTERBACKS!!!
Young(er) mobile centerbacks who can track back quickly on counterattacks, with some height/hops to defend set pieces.

Beats head against wall......

CCC Draw is in.....

Galaxy drew Sporting SM (San Miguelito Panama), winner of the play-in game of Central American Cup.

If the G's, they will play Mt. Pleasant - Jamaica-, winner of the Concacaf Caribbean Cup

Tom Bogart:

The LA Galaxy are closing in on a blockbuster deal to acquire former MLS Defender of the Year Jakob Glesnes from the Philadelphia Union, per sources.

Not done, but final details now.

Agreement between clubs is north of $1m GAM + add-ons

Nice guy all around.......however.....
Dude is expensive for what he does.
He showed to be much slower last season. Age/time is catching up with him.
He's not a starter for a club that wants to contend for MLS Cup.
Good depth piece, but his contract has to be GAM type.

Let him try free agency, if if nobody bites, sign him for a one year GAM contract with a club option for an additional.

Also acquired:

Homegrown Priority for Jamir Johnson from the Philadelphia Union in Exchange for $1,100,000 .

If he gets signed to the first team it could be interesting considering he would be a homegrown, his would not count on the budget.

Word is:
Upside - He has elite pro-pace, passing play maker, and presses hard on defense.
Downside: Not the best one on one dribbler, and he is slight of stature.

perhaps a backup for Puig?

Some more good news:

As we know the G's missing the playoffs excludes them from League's Cup.

....but even better, since they didn't make the playoff they get extra GAM
.....since the qualified for CCC they get extra GAM.

Apparently these will be the new MLS Divisions for 2027 going forward:

Five New Divisions::

  • LA Galaxy, LAFC, San Diego FC, Austin FC, Houston Dynamo, FC Dallas

  • CF Montreal, Toronto FC, New England Revolution, New York Red Bulls, NYCFC, Philadelphia Union

Playing in Texas during the summer.
Any games in Texas for the first few months of the season will be ROUGH!
