Kevin Feige Addresses ?Doctor Strange? Casting Controversy

"Ancient One was a major topic of conversation in the development and the creative process of the story. We didn?t want to play into any of the stereotypes found in the comic books, some of which go back as far as 50 years or more. We felt the idea of gender swapping the role of The Ancient One was exciting. It opened up possibilities, it was a fresh way into this old and very typical story line. Why not make the wisest bestower of knowledge in the universe to our heroes in the particular film a woman instead of a man? We made changes to some of the other key character in the comic for similar reasons. Specifically, casting Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo and there?s a character named Wong, who is a very big part of comics, and we cast this amazing Asian actor [Benedict Wong] and modernized that role and his talents people will begin to see as materials on the film begin to come out.?

They should've cast the Ancient One as a stereotypical Mystical Asian for old times sake, haha. ;)

Funny thing this. Nobody seems to have made the connection that the hypesensitivity towards portrayals of Asians is directly related to the international box office. Marvel sidestepped one landmine to put their foot in another. Not having a stereotypical character is one thing, reverse casting is another. That quote from Feige is onestepaway from being...'look, we have an asian, we have a black'... Tread carefully there.

I just have to say Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle was seriously the most perfect casting. The Punisher was sooooo awesome and I wanted more of him. Elektra was amazing as well. Matt was kind of annoying me this season.

Why Can’t Marvel Translate Its Netflix Success To Broadcast TV?
http://uproxx.com/gammasquad/marvel-tv-series/

I would think the short answer is pretty obvious. First, network tv is STILL heavily sanitized. Content, violence, adult themes have to be muted for middle America. The model has throttled the big three into a position where they cannot even compete with pay cable stations like Fx, AMC, etc. The second, and almost more pressing issue is the amount of episodes that are required. I have read a LOT of complaints that, even at the lower episode count, the Netflix shows can drag a bit in the middle. Broadcast networks, what is the lowest episode order??? 19????? That's a lot of story stretching and wheel spinning. And I hate to be the one to say it, but the ABC shows look CHEAP. Netflix...the results are mixed, but for the most part, visually superior.

Agent Carter was a good looking show, you fiends!!! I am going to set an hour for when that show was supposed to be on next season to drink and cry. Lol!

Yeah, the Networks are sanitized. Even if they change some language and what have you, I couldn't see how ABC or another similar channel would pull off such a dark series as Jessica Jones.

yeah why is this even a question? a regular network would neuter the **** out of Daredevil

‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ Solved Marvel’s Villain Problem Before There Was One

Time will prove me right in saying that this movie is the best of the bunch. Fun, colorful and with a good villain. Can't ask for more than that.

I still think this whole villain issue is a bunch of hooey.

Only Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3 had weak villains, with the latter being entirely screwed up.by wasting The Mandarin on a cheap plot point.

The rest are perfectly fine, with Ultron being one of the strong suits a poorly directed film.

'Lupita Nyong'o in talks to join Marvel's "Black Panther"'

'Michael B. Jordan Joins Marvel's "Black Panther"'

I cannot WAIT for this movie!! **grabby hands**
Lupita Nyong'o would make an amazing Shuri, but apparently they're going for love interest rather than sister, so hopefully she'll be playing one of T'Challa's bodyguards.

I'm confused. Is Johnny Storm actually Captain America, or is he gonna be in Black Panther? Wait, are two Johnny Storms going to meet in Black Panther?! What will happen to the MCU if they come in contact?

The first Johnny Storm was so embarrassed that the movie Silver Surfer looked like a foil wrapped leftover in the refrigerator that he went into a 70 year coma. When he woke up, he had turned into a super soldier.

And the second Johnny Storm was even more embarrassed at the new FF movie that he went into hiding in Wakanda.

Everything should be kosher until Rocky Balboa tries to stage a fight in Wakanda and we get a Rocky/MCU crossover we all (well, maybe just me) want. This time Creed will torch his opponents in the ring. mhihi:
