The Avengers/Marvel movies

Hey at least I am admitting it openly. Hell, I even went to Adgy in regards to knowledge about some comics and what would be good for my son to start him on the right path. (although, I am itching to see what my Wolverine #1 is worth these days)

The Avengers -- spoiler discussion

Had it since I originally bought it in the 80's

Still think a variation on Planet Hulk is what they go with. Read an article where they proposed that there were plenty of opportunities to rework a lot of the story to include Bruce Banner.

Adgy, I have the top one, and then another one where it was Marvel Presents: Wolverine and was an issue with Wolverine in one part, and then 2 other comics as well. Ah well, good things to pass on to my son. At least I have the Jim Lee Punisher War Journal#1 and a bunch of other stuff boarded and sitting in the closet

Why did you buy them if you're just now getting around to reading comics?

Because I have had them in my parents garage since I was in fifth grade. I should rephrase reading to appreciating

Nothing in worse than what happened with the Red Dawn remake. According to the LA Times article, since China only allows so many foreign movies to appear in their theaters each year, studios are starting to do this crap so that their movies will be picked, since they want a billion people to have the chance to give them money.

Boy, we can't sell this country away fast enough. Shameful.

Not to get on a political rant, but could you imagine the outcry if some theatre in like, I don't know, Kentucky, edited out the language in an R rated move because they objected to it? Think the studios would stand for it?

Well, a few years ago there was a whole thing about how there was a company that would take videotapes (okay, maybe several years ago) and splice out the naughty parts so that parents who wanted to show their kids Titanic without Kate Winslet's toplessness (and probably the whole scene) could do so. The studios were suing and presumably won if the editing company was charging for their work.

The moral of the story is that if there is no money to be made, the studio will protect the artistic vision of the filmmakers. If there is money to be made, the studio will whore that product as hard as they can. The entertainment will come when a director complains about having his movie altered for China, but then the director probably gets his own extra check.

And here I thought half of the appeal of Titanic was Kate Winslet's toplessness.
