The Avengers/Marvel movies

meh. am I the only person who doesn't like Spiderman all that much?

Pretty much. :P

This is coming from a dude who didn't bother watching the last two Spidey movies. Geek fail.

Oh but seriously, I am quite fond of the character and he was one of my favorite characters growing up. But it seems that the movies are stuck in the whole teenage angst aspect of the character. And granted that's a major part of the character, but the stories in the comic books did go beyond that. And considering Spider-man is getting younger, the teenage angst is going to get stronger. It's something that doesn't make me dislike the character, but makes it hard for me to connect with him as an adult the same way that I did while growing up. :/

No. And their handling of him has been done to death. There really is no new direction they can take the franchise in...so they reboot with another new actor. So, what are they gonna do? Take him younger and back to school. Oh joy. Well, at least Marvel will get something out of the character simply because they are going to use him in a fresh and inventive way.

Really hoping they skip the Uncle Ben dying/origin story this time.

srsly, what else are they going to do. They tried going with the Gwen thing, that didn't work. It's all very old hat at this point, with Peter Parker's origin being probably the most iconic of all the superheroes. And that's where they are screwed. What choice do they have really. The only thing they could do is come in swinging with all that just done away with and have him established and work in some other storylines. But...since they are going younger, that ain't likely to happen. They have tried tweaking the origin, but there is only so much they can do. They are locked in, and until they break the cycle Spiderman is a VERY overdone and one dimensional property. And I think the last two really made people cynical about the whole deal. In a perfect world, they should have let the character sit for a while, but expiring rights and all they are going right back into it. Probably with the same results

I think they should maybe mention it. Maybe even a flashback. But if they do the whole thing again, I think they're going to be in trouble.

Not that it's going to happen, but if I were in charge, they would do a movie version of The Death of Jean DeWolff or Kraven's Last Hunt.

Then again, if I were in charge, I'd do a movie version of The Clone Saga just to mess with people. mhihi:

That Kraven storyline is a thing of beauty. One of the best arcs I have ever read, and it made a cartoon character into such an epically tragic figure. I'm talking 'Rutger Hauer at the end of Blade Runner' stuff. They would just hamfist the whole deal.

Yeah, they need to stay the **** away from those stories until they build up a decent run first. The Kraven story especially would have to be a 3rd or 4th movie to really have the impact it would need to land properly, I think.

Oh, good. I'm glad I'm not the only one bored with the Peter Parker origin story.
It's pretty ridiculous that we have to wait another 3 years for a female-led Marvel movie, but by all means, let's watch Peter Parker become Spider-Man for the third time.

Seriously. He's also had about 200 different cartoon series, so I think we've all got the gist of it by now.

Jump straight into him fighting Hobgoblin, please.
