A New Marvel Season Every Six Months From Netflix

While at the Television Critic’s Association today, head of Netflix content Ted Sarandos told the audience, including Variety’s Laura Prudom, that Marvel’s Jessica Jones will debut by the end of 2015 and that ideally there would be a new Marvel series every six months. Once all four of the series have been launched, they will crossover in the Defenders, but some series will have multiple seasons before that happens as is the case with Marvel’s Daredevil.

Steven DeKnight Says ‘Daredevil’ Finally Features “The Marvel Version” of the Punisher

One likely thing is that Bernthal’s Frank Castle probably won’t be as graphically violent as Lexi Alexander’s hard R-rated film Punisher: War Zone.

“Doubtful, that was pretty violent,” DeKnight said. “The first season of Daredevil was violent but I always say it was more implied. It wasn’t nearly as violent as The Walking Dead, a show that I love. On that, if somebody were to crush somebody’s head in a car door, you would’ve seen the head crush on screen but we didn’t want to go quite that far. We wanted to keep it right around PG-16 and not go all the way to the R. I have no idea if they’re planning to push it that far next season but I would be surprised.”

Sooooooo I guess that means, since they are having issues with Iron Fist, and Luke Cage is already cast...Power Man is up next?

Cloak & Dagger fit that "street level" design, though I wonder if the composition of two big black dude & hot white chick teams might be too similar to run so closely together.

Moon Knight makes a lot of sense. The TV format makes the multiple personality/schizophrenia aspect easier to tell in an episodic narrative. Plus the fact that Khonshu has no problem killing, sets up a counter to Daredevil and his conflicts.

James Gunn Celebrates One Year Anniversary Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Opening With Heartfelt Thank You Letter
http://comicbook.com/2015/08/02/james-gunn-celebrates-one-year-anniversary-of-guardians-of-the-g/

Gunn wrote, via his official Facebook page:

One year ago today, Guardians of the Galaxy opened up in the U.S. and many places around the world. The movie massively over-performed that weekend, even by our own expectations, but what meant more to me is how much so many of you, no matter where you were from, took the story and the characters into your hearts. What meant more to me is that "We are Groot" became a rallying cry for unity among friends and families. What meant more to me is that you laughed at the dumb stuff I thought you'd miss, like "Cap'n's gotta teach stuff" and "I was thinking of something else." What meant more to me is that in our tenth week we were out-performing any comic book film in recent history - not because of the money, but because people were going back to see the film a second, third, fourth, fifth time, or more, because they loved it. What mattered to me is that after a lifetime of telling stories and half a lifetime making movies, I felt like you and I, filmmaker and audience, were at the same place at the same time.

It mattered to me mostly because I told a story fully with my heart, and you took it into yours. I don't think I can ever explain how much that means to me. It makes every failure I've ever had well worth it.

I get a lot of messages from people saying, "You made me believe in movies again." Well, you guys made me believe that what I spent my life doing was worth doing. And you strengthened my belief that nothing's worth doing, if it's not done honestly, and it's not done with love.

On this, the one year anniversary of the cinematic Guardians entering our solar system: thank you, thank you, thank you. We really are, truly, honestly Groot.

Love,

James

I will continue to (G)root for a very very good guy.
