The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

Top Cow has Think Tank #1 free for download: http://www.topcow.com/moos/43-latest-moos/711-download-think-tank-1-free

I picked up "Punk Rock Jesus" and haven't had a chance to read it, but I hear great things about it. As for "Harbinger", I have been picking up the issues and once I catch up on "Archer & Armstrong", I was going to start on it because I am enjoying the Valiant titles thus far.

So did I just miss the discussion of the new ABC Tuesday night show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.??

3-Minute Trailer for ABC’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Starring Clark Gregg | Collider

How come it doesn't have it's own thread?? Or is it in the Television thread? Looks good to me ...

Most of the news has been put in the Avengers:Spoiler Discussion thread. Could go in Tv just as easily, but yeah, pretty much all of the interrelated Marvel Avengers news has been tossed together for better or worse. There is quite a bit of news re:this show in there.

I'm beginning to think DC is actively trying to get me to stop buying their books.

Damn ... I missed it! And it looks good to me but I wonder how ABC could mess it up ...

Exclusive: Frank Miller's Hard Boiled Being Adapted Into A Feature By Mukunda Michael Dewil - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

I'm kind of amazed it's taken this long for someone to want to adapt that book. I think it'd translate well, in the right hands. Gonna miss that amazing Geof Darrow art, though.

Read that Adge, but this confused me...

At the end of the conversation, talk turned to his ongoing and future projects, one of which, he told me, is an adaptation of Frank Miller and Geof Darrow?s Hard Boiled.

I?m adapting Frank Miller?s comic book called Hard Boiled with Stephen L?Heureux from Solipsist films. They just did Sin City 2 and they own a lot of Frank?s comics. That?s a very big project that?s going be out to market in a couple of weeks? it?s quite a big deal. We?re kind of pumped for that.

What is? The adaptation? I am going to assume it isn't even a script he is talking about? So basically he is going to shop an outline of the comics to potential buyers???

I assume so, yeah. Unless there is a script maybe?

Marvel’s shocking surprise: Thanos is on the cover of Infinity

Infinity_1_Cover.jpg

The six-issue miniseries (which arrives in August) will set up a big cosmic battle to save earth and heralds the new “cosmic” style Marvel Universe in the movies. The story features The Inhumans leading the rest of the good guys of the universe in battle against Thanos and the minions of bad.

Really hoping that Hickman gets Thanos and understands he's a more complex, nuanced character than he seems to be in all his appearances of late. That Thanos origin series coming out right now by Jason Aaron is pretty decent so far.

Karl Urban Says a DREDD Sequel Is

When speaking with Urban, Steve mentioned that there’s a passionate fanbase for Dredd out there and asked the actor if there’s any possibility of him reprising the role in a sequel:

“Interestingly enough, I did have breakfast with Alex Garland this morning. It’s not off the agenda. Clearly everyone has woken up to the fact that an audience has found this movie and loves it. It’s entirely possible, and if people want to see another installment then they should be vocal about that, because, it can happen. The power of fandom can resurrect projects. In fact, that’s what happened with Star Trek. They weren’t going to do a third season until fans did a letter writing campaign and they continued that series.”

The Dredd was already made on a rather low budget with regards to other comic book adaptations, but it’s feasible that the film finding a wider audience on Blu-ray and DVD could convince a studio to give it another go. As Urban notes, it’s up to Dredd fans to speak up and let the powers that be know that there is an audience out there clamoring for Dredd 2 to come to fruition, so start making moves people.
