DEADPOOL Test Footage Features Ryan Reynolds
What will get made first? This or a Lobo movie. Both have HUGE fanboy potential and both have HUGE fail potential.
The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the Soska Sisters, the twin directors behind the horror movie American Mary have signed on to head the adaptation of Painkiller Jane.
Based off the comic created by Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada, Painkiller Jane focuses on an undercover cop who’s cover gets blown and she is tortured, leaving her with a preternatural healing ability and a high tolerance for pain.
The SyFy channel brought it to the small screen twice, first in a made-for-TV movie in 2005 with Emmanuelle Vaugier. Then in 2007 made it a series with Kristanna Loken in the title role.
At the Diamond Retailers Appreciation lunch at San Diego Comic Con, Bob Wayne announced for Vertigo the upcoming Dustcovers book for Sandman artwork by Dave McKean, and also a book Dreamstates which will include new Sandman stories in each by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. Could it be the “last Sandman story” in their collaboration? They are coming in November.
This is also why Guardians of the Galaxy is far and away a stronger film than Avengers. Joss Whedon’s strength lies in his writing of involving conversation, but that often comes at the expense of the action. That’s why the Avengers spend a lot of their movie on a big plastic set waiting for the bad guys to attack them. Gunn’s Guardians shamelessly rockets up the action with every spare moment, never letting things settle for long, but that action is always driven by character.
He then started a nice powerpoint presentation, starting with a new hardcover edition of Batman Arkham Asylum. “I can’t escape this book.” It’s mainly just a new cover, with a 16 page appendix with other Batman art by McKean. He mentioned that it’s been so long since he’s worked at DC that he doesn’t recognize anyone working there anymore really.
Vertigo will also be publishing a new edition of Mr. Punch, where McKean has gone back and touched up the scans of the art, as he did the original back when he had just picked up Photoshop for the first time and had yet to learn how to use the zoom feature. “It was terrible.” he lamented. A great deal of supplemental material was made for Mr. Punch, his graphic novel with Neil Gaiman, which will be included in the 16 page appendix added to this edition.
A fan asked whether this would be hardcover or softcover, to which Allan Spiegel answered “Buy both!”
A new edition of Dust Covers, Dave McKean’s Sandman cover galley is being released. It still has “The Last Sandman Story” from the previous release of the book, a collaboration between him and Gaiman. But as this is just a rerelease with a new cover, McKean wasn’t too enthusiastic.
But he was far more impressed with Dream States, the companion book which collects all of his Sandman work from after the original series, including the entire cover run of The Dreaming and The Sandman Presents, and a new short story “Fish out of Water” written by Gaiman dealing with the Dreaming. The story was apparently inspired by a dream Gaiman had after a visit to Jordan.

Earlier this month, Marvel revealed that a new, female God of Thunder -- identity still unrevealed -- would star in a relaunched "Thor" series beginning in October. That news, which first broke on ABC daytime talk show "The View," made international headlines -- but there's still story left to tell in writer Jason Aaron's currently ongoing "Thor: God of Thunder" series.
That volume is set to wrap in September with issue #25 from Aaron and artists Esad Ribic, Simon Bisley and R.M. Gu?ra. The issue will arrive with three variant covers, one spotlighting each of the three Thor eras that the book has featured -- young Thor, contemporary "Avengers" Thor and old King Thor -- and CBR has the exclusive first look at two of them. Bisley illustrates young Thor on his cover, and Gu?ra -- Aaron's collaborator on the celebrator Vertigo series "Scalped" -- draws King Thor.
