The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

Maybe they're making El Extrano straight! :wootrock:

That...does not look possible. Look, if DC wants to go high profile with an LGBT superhero, fine. I have no problem with that. Create one or do like Marvel has with the NEW Spiderman. But any of these reinventions...Marvel's ULTIMATES etc. Whether it's changing the race or now the sexual orientation, it's just insincere not to mention revisionist. And, sorry...but they will never go all in. There will always be an * with some explanation of an alternate universe or an evil twin whatever. I just cannot see DC potentially alienating a large chunk of their audience by having Batman or Superman be gay FROM THIS POINT FORWARD. And honestly, what is it really besides an attempt to make headlines and convince a segment of society that they are 'on their side'(so buy our books).

They just rebooted their whole universe (sorta), though, so they can kinda get away with it now.

The Rumor Mill Has The Rock Playing ‘Lobo’, Which Kind Of Makes Sense | | Bloody DisgustingBloody Disgusting

Don't have a problem with this. Johnson is solid in comedic parts and certainly fits the bill physically. This has zero chance of satisfying me, maybe if Del Toro(Guillermo) was doing it it MIGHT have a chance, but this will never go as frag-out as it needs to.

I don't think they could do a true Lobo without going for NC-17 or X rating ... I am not sure Dwayne wants to go in the direction of an R rated movie either. I am on board, though, as I am a fan of Dwayne's.

So what does snubbed Hulk star have to say about Avengers now? | Blastr

Norton should not do interviews. Even when complimentary his notorious 'prickliness' comes through.

OK... but imagine this.

You're at a film festival to promote an "art" flick.... and every snotty prick "reporter" on the planet wants to rub it in your face that you weren't in The Avengers. Forget for one second that we're fanboys who love being smug pompous *******s to other human beings about their profession....

If you were Norton wouldn't that p*ss you off? I mean the reporter is basically pushing him and screaming "NANNY NANNY BOO BOO WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO DO" and gets to call it a legitimate question.

I think it's totally fitting that the "reporter" who actually asked the question is named "Drew McWeeny" because he's such a ****ing dick he couldn't be bothered to discuss a single aspect of Moonrise Kingdom. He had to talk all about The Avengers and how bad HE felt about asking the question.

Edward Norton explains why he still hasnt seen The Avengers

Ugh.

For shame people. For shame.

Fair points Doc, all except for the fact that if Norton(who I find to be a tremendous actor) is a notorious pain in the ass. He has himself to blame for that. If it wasn't for that previously established rep it would have been a non story. And yeah, although I like McWeeny, you are absolutely right, it was a baiting question. So it's a wrong/wrong situation more or less.

As far as a Lobo movie I think there could be a pg-13 version that could work. They would have to go over-the-top/almost looney toons w/the violence. By that I mean big andy capp like clouds with fists/hooks popping out. Almost like the fx in The Mask. But they have to embrace the ridiculous violence which is 99% of the character. I just don't think anything other than a cookie-cutter type 'adventure' movie is going to come out of this. I know DJ could be perfect if given the green light to really go for it...

The Infinity Gauntlet Is The Best Selling Graphic Novel On Amazon | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Marvel will be publishing both a Essential Captain Marvel, Vol. 2 and Essential Warlock featuring Thanos’ appearances from Jim Starlin, so I think they are aware of the uptick in interest.

I think we should expect some sort of Thanos Omnibus very soon.
But if you have a comic with Thanos in it, this could be a good time to sell.

I am all over anything they want to release, please. Thanks. I already have all the Warlock stuff in comic and hardcover form, but I'll buy the Essential book anyway. Yup.

And there are a lot more Thanos-related items on eBay, too. They just put out a new statue of him that looks ****ing badass, but it's too damn expensive. :(
