1990 ‘Captain America’ Getting Director’s Cut, BluRay Release & Fantasia Festival Appearance > The Playlist

Marvel.jpg

Speaking with io9 Pyun reveals that hot off the heels of his director’s cut of “Cyborg” (details on that here), he’s got his final version of “Captain America” ready to go. Now running 124 minutes instead of 97 minutes, and based on his “own 35 mm CA work picture and temp mix” before he was booted, the new cut has “a few added scenes, and is more character-oriented and less ‘super hero action’” (not really sure how that last thing is a selling point, but whatever). It will arrive on BluRay in May, screen at the Fantasia Film Festival in July and B Movie Celebration in September.

Finished the first trade of iZombie. Was ok. It has a very "Scooby Doo" feeling to it. I'm wondering if it's more because of the artwork. I think Adgy has been spoiling me with graphic stuff like Preacher and The Boys....that stuff like iZombie seems pretty weak sauce. I could have used more gore.

After Preacher and The Boys...pretty much anything is going to be a letdown.

It's definitely more of an odd, quirky comedy than a violent, ****ed up story. For sure.

And, goddamn, do I love Mike Allred's art.

I have that Allred solo WW comic! :dancing-smiley:

That Captain America movie was hella bad, but I want to watch it again just because.

Changing Red Skull from German to Italian?

I actually agree with BT about Cinderella...but I find it odd that you(BoobyTrap) hate Rose Red so much. I.M.O. Cinderella is more of a vapid see you next thursday. Rose Red may be emotionally unstable but it's due to abandonment issues and the self esteem issues that closely follow. Cut the kid a break. She hitched up her drawers when she had to and fought through some crippling emotional issues...

And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is true geekdom. Projecting huge emotional issues on comic book characters. I make NO APOLOGIES!!!!!

And wasn't Allred the MadMan creator? Always felt like that was a comic I would have dug.

Yes, he was. He still releases some Madman stuff occasionally. I think there's a big anniversary issue coming out sometime in the near future.

It's a very odd comic, but if you've got the mindset... it's awesome.

He also did the art for Peter Milligan's run on X-Force/X-Statix which was awesome and I REALLY WISH MARVEL WOULD PUT THE TRADES BACK IN PRINT. I sold all my single issues, not knowing the last 3 or 4 trades were OOP. Regret it mightily now.

How long until Marvel does this on the Disney channel?

I doubt anyone else here is reading this, but my favorite book that came out this week was:

Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine #5 by Jason Aaron & Adam Kubert. When this book comes out in TPB, everyone should buy it. It starts off slow, but... man, this issue was insane and amazing. I can't wait for #6.
