The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

I'm taking your advice and staying away from the rest. But I gots to have my Constantine.

You were warned.

I don't need no stinkin' foundation. I want demon fighting!

There is plenty.

The biggest difference between the comics and the movie was that the comic Constantine usually outsmarts the demons. He doesn't just have a gun he can shoot them with.

Movie Constantine was better looking.

Well if there's plenty, I sure didn't see any. I think you should just give me the exciting issues and then fill me in on any questions I have.

Well, I'll have to re-read some and figure out what might be good for you...

Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

Over the years, CONSTANTINE seems like it has this kind of cult following...which has been great, it's been embraced, and it would be great to figure out a sequel. And if we did, and we've been trying to figure one out, it would be great to do the really, dark scary...we got caught in that weird PG-13 R no man's land...and we should do the hard R, scary version, which I would love to do"

I am split. As a fan of Constantine(the comic version) the movie was a hot mess. But if you disassociate the comic from the movie it wasn't half bad. Keanu was horribly miscast though. Guy Pearce could pull it off...maybe.

Jay Baruchel To Adapt Image’s Random Acts Of Violence And Tell Untrue Tales Of The Exorcist Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Random Acts is the blood-soaked story of two comic creators and their ultimate horror character Slasherman creation gone very wrong. The creators start to see success flowing like a river, but when that river turns bloody and people start dying in the midst of a signing tour, it becomes clear that their creation has taken a life of its own.

as always, if you have read the source material...weigh in. Is it good? I kinda like Baruchel...he comes off as a geek's geek.

Hey Doc...as much as you hate Brightest Day or whatever the current attempt to get suckers to buy all tie ins...

What about?

Comic Review: Green Lantern #65 | Geeks of Doom

I am reading that the 'bad penny' GL Guy Gardener is involved. Should I spend good pennies on this?

No. Guy Gardener came back the same time Hal Jordan did and has been in some of the best Green Lantern stories since then.

Check out "To Be A Lantern"...

But the **** they're doing now? No. Avoid it like the plague.

More Omnibi To Make Shelf Room For Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

What is it with Marvel and DC?s differing definition of the word omnibus? Take these new additions ready to test the strength of your comic shelf brackets.

The Avengers Omnibus - Volume 1 Stan and Jack, 728 pages.

Amazing Spider-Man by David Michelinie & Todd McFarlane Omnibus ? 848 pages

X-Men by Chris Claremont & Jim Lee Omnibus ? Volume 2 880 pages

Fantastic Four by John Byrne Omnibus ? Volume 1 ? 1084 pages.

X-Statix Omnibus ? 1200 pages!!! Bloody brilliant.

And then we have DC

Spy vs. Spy Omnibus ? 400 pages.

Steve Ditko Omnibus Vol. 2 ? 384 pages

The Hawkman Omnibus Vol. 1 by Geoff Johns and Rags Morales and Teen Titans Omnibus, Vol. 1 by Geoff and friends. Both 320 pages. Hmm. Not a very Omnibusish page count there.

But for those who like the but not the spine, here are some massive paperback collections and a much more affordable price.

Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: The Laughing Corpse Ultimate Collection ? 360 pages.

Spider-Man by Mark Millar Ultimate Collection ? 304 pages.
