Legendary Comics Announces Matt Wagner & Simon Bisley, Paul Pope Projects [Update] Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Today the Legendary Comics panel at San Diego Comic-Con unveiled that the company will publish two exciting new projects from esteemed artists, Paul Pope and Matt Wagner.

Paul Pope’s art book, PULPHOPE, will feature more than 200 pages of Pope’s career retrospective and includes many never before seen pieces. Past projects from Pope include BATMAN: YEAR 100, Liquid and 100%. The book is scheduled for release this holiday season.

THE TOWER CHRONICLES, from GRENDEL and MAGE creator Matt Wagner, and developed with Legendary’s Chairman and CEO Thomas Tull, is a supernatural action/adventure that tells the story of a bounty hunter with a hidden past. John Tower and his team of high-tech mercenaries are all that stand between civilians and things that go “bump” in the night.

These both sound awesome.

First Look At Vincent Paronnaud & Marjane Satrapi’s ‘Persepolis’ Followup ‘Chicken With Plums’ > The Playlist

”Chicken With Plums” returns to Iran once again, this time telling the story of Nassar Ali Khan, Satrapi’s great uncle and famed Iranian musician, who aspires to die after his wife breaks his lute. The film tracks the last eight days before he dies, as he is visited by family, memories and hallucinations. It once again sounds like a portal into Iranian cultural with the unique perspective only Paronnaud and Satrapi can bring.

Isabella Rossellini, Mathieu Amalric, Maria de Medeiros and Chiara Mastroianni head up the cast.

Persepolis was excellent. High hopes for this one.

just got back from a work screening of captain america. just like thor, liked it a lot.

some obvious plot flaws, but comes with suspension of disbelief. Characters were all developed well (matrix agent guy was a great german. natalie portman kind of annoyed me in Thor, the girl in this one was much better). great action scenes - obviously somewhat unbelievable, but so is the fact that the US just happened to have the one piece of metal for his shield that could stop red skull's blue blasts. entertainment for sure.

I'm not too familiar with the comic, but liked the infusion of 1940s wartime, and accompanying propaganda.

very entertaining. thumbs up

avengers preview at end of credits.

I feel the same way. You can pick the movie apart if you want to but if you employ a little suspension of disbelief the movie is very enjoyable. I liked a lot as well. The true test was I dragged the Mrs. to see this and this type of movie is not her thing, but after the movie was over she commented that she was surprised how much she liked it.

The thing that bummed me out however is that it appears that Haley Atwell , who I found just downright irresistible, will not be in future movies.

Can't wait for the Avengers.

BoobyTrap and I saw Captain America last night. I will join the chorus of the It Was Fun song. Have to say, though, I was slightly disappointed with some of it. probably my own fault setting my expectations to what people have been saying about it, but I thought at times it was a little too... I dunno the word... Hollywood-y?

For example, I thought there was a little too much CGI. I don't know how much of it was really necessary, but I feel like they could have done without a lot of it with some more work/effort. Just as an example.

Having said that, though, I thought pretty much everyone did a good job. The Red Skull was ****ing amazing and I can't believe they made him look so good. Hayley Atwell was awesome and I will give any movie she's in from now on a little extra attention.

It was fun. For sure.

But I think I like Thor better.

for the first 45 minutes or so i thought it was kate beckinsale. i suck.

considering he woke up 70 years later, I'm assuming she'd either be dead or ridiculously old.

definitely will have high hopes for the avengers

Just as an FYI, Sharon Carter (presumably her daughter) is a SHIELD agent and Steve Rogers' (on again, off again) love interest in the comics.

I assume that was her at the end since they looked somewhat similar.

I know it would be considered cheesy, but if they could some way use Atwell to play the daughter, perhaps change her look just a little and then have Rogers say something like "It is amazing how much you look like your mother!" I would be ok with it.

Like I said, way cheesy, but I would put up with almost anything to have Atwell in the future movies.

Sharon was her way younger niece in the comic continuity. Give Atwell blonde hair, and she's GTG for Avengers. :)

thanks!

I'm not that familiar with the comics, so good to know..

Of course, the idea of Sharon being her daughter is ridiculous! It would have to be her grand-daughter, great grand-daughter or as you pointed out, if they stick with the comic, her way younger niece.

Orrrr, they could have Atwell play a some super-hero chick! Which one? I don't care, invent one.

She certainly has the curves for it!

DC Women Kicking Ass - Marvel developing female led TV properties

Today at SDCC Marvel announced that aka Jessica Jones is moving ahead in development at ABC and that it will include Carol Danvers and Luke Cage in the cast.

The big news was the development of Mockingbird that will place Bobbi Morse in college and follows her adventures as a student by day and secret agent by night.

KSite TV said Jeph Loeb described it as “Alias meets Felicity” and is targeted for ABC Family.

A series starring Cloak and Dagger is also in development for ABC Family.

Jessica Jones, huh? Cool. I imagine it will be immensely watered-down, but she's such a cool character.

Crank needs to just die already.

I happened to LOVE Captain America! I swear to bob, Chris Evans....I would totally wreck that ****. I wasn't even a Captain America fan (because I have this aversion to superheros that wear Blue and Red and look too goody goody). But hey, he looked good throwing pretty much the ladies Wimbledon trophy at people. Did I mention the earnest and self sacrificing nature? And....the buffest looking man boobies I've seen in a while. I even liked how the female lead character was a fighter and is perfectly happy punching men and shooting at them when they p*ss her off. She gets a thumbs up from me.

I am not really holding my breath over the possibility that the Avengers movie with have strong females characters as this. Yes I know Black Widow and Maria Hill are in it. I said STRONG female characters, not two pairs of boobs for fanboys to jerk off to after they come home from the AMC. If that movie was just Captain America and Iron Man, I'd totally be on board. I still refuse to see Thor, but Adgy told me last night he acts like an emo *******. Why in the hell would I want to watch that?

The Avengers trailer did not impress me because Thor was doing his best impression of a K-stew emo sulk wearing a bad wig.
