The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

Uh... I don't think he's dead.

As for your Opus mugs and Bill the Cat t-shirts... I'm assuming that's somehow different than a live action Hong Kong Phooey remake right?

Well he has a horrible atitude for a living COMIC STRIP WRITER. Yes, they are btw...because they were commisioned/signed off on by the creator of Bloom County and they are basically likenesses of the original work. The HKP nightmare is a rape of the spirit of the original source material and will bear only surface similarities. I see what you are trying to do but comparing Eddie Murphy replacing Scatman Crothers and the horribly dated Phooey being thrust into some ****ty modern concoction to Bloom county merchandising is apples to oranges. The only way it could be comparable is if Ashton Kutcher decided he wanted to write comic strips and was going to use the characters BB created.

Nicolas Winding Refn Says He Gets WONDER WOMAN if He Does Well with LOGAN’S RUN

After the past couple years, Nicolas Winding Refn has become one of my favorite directors. I?ve enjoyed the Pusher trilogy, Bronson, Valhalla Rising, and his latest film, Drive, is my favorite flick of 2011 thus far. Refn is currently at work on the indie drama Only God Forgives with Ryan Gosling, but he?s also set to direct the remake of the 1976 sci-fi flick Logan?s Run (also starring Gosling), and he?s had a vision for a Wonder Woman flick he?s wanted to do for years. At this weekend?s Empire Big Screen convention, he said during the Q&A [via The Playlist]:

?I would love to make Wonder Woman. And I also think that Christina Hendricks would be the perfect Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros haven?t called yet. But I?m getting closer with Logan?s Run. I think someone said to me in a meeting that if I get Logan?s Run right, then I?ll get ?Wonder Woman.?

I think ?right? means ?a box office hit? so here?s hoping because a Wonder Woman movie is long overdue and I?d love to see Refn?s take on the material.

Robert Downey Jr. Talks IRON MAN 3

With the film not set to open until May 3rd, 2013, Robert Downey Jr. is going to have a hard time talking about anything other than Iron Man 3 (or The Avengers) for the foreseeable future. With most of his work on set of The Avengers completed, the actor took some time to briefly discuss his approach towards Iron Man 3 saying:

“My sense of it is that we need to leave it all on the field — whatever that means in the end. You can pick several different points of departure for that.”

While nothing here can be considered a groundbreaking revelation regarding the project, you can hit the jump for more on what Downey Jr. had to say about Iron Man and reuniting with co-writer/director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang).

The interview comes courtesy of Hero Complex who caught up with Downey Jr. at his office in Venice last week. During the conversation, the actor talked about re-teaming with Shane Black on Iron Man 3 saying:

“He’s more than the sum of his parts and he’s also kind of been a sleeper for a long time,” Downey said. “We’re not talking much about [the script] right now because Shane is off writing and we talked before that and when we are talking again the talking is going to be over pretty quick [because we're on the same page].”
