The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

Bryan Singer Set to Direct X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST | Collider

The bane of the X-franchise...lack of continuity. I like Singer. haven't really LOVED anything he's done since Usual Suspects though. And the first 2 X-men flicks are pretty meh, sorry. Other than the ridiculously long running time, First Class FELT like an X-movie should. Sentinels, Days of Future Past, and Singer...sounds like a recipe for another brainless flick as opposed to the more sophisticated First Class, that actually had some subtlety. Oh well. There's always the Wolverine franchise(bleh).

read an editorial on this where they loved the idea of a Goon flick but were against the Kickstarter because it only finances a show reel. They have been trying to get funding for this(unsuccessfully) so the editorial suggested the Kickstarter should be aimed towards making the flick. Kind of gotta agree with that. I do want to see this damned thing get made.

Isn't that the 3rd creative change on that book and it hasn't even hit issue 50 yet? And they took him off what was supposedly a great book Frankenstein and the agents of Shade(granted, it was probably done knowing that the book was gonna get cancelled). So, I'll ask the question...is Dark Avengers the next book to go? I would think that they might want to keep this one around considering the rumor about GDT wanting to put together what would basically amount to a Dark Avengers movie*.

Did The Apocalypse War Happen In IDW’s Dredd Reboot? Only You Can Decide | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

At Long Beach Comic Con, IDW also talked about the new Dredd comic they’re publishing – out how it works in continuity.

While describing it as “sonething of a reboot”, they state that Dredd is five years out of the academy so it doesn’t interfere with current canon. Each issue will have backup stories that set up a larger story. And that Mega City Two exists – but they will let the readers decide if the Apocalypse War happens… or not.

The classic 2000AD Judge Dredd arc saw Mega City One invaded by the Soviet East Meg One, halving the city’s population to only four hundred million.

The fate of the Mega City is all down to you..

Hmm. Unecessary, but worth checking out. Tough to continue the 'status quo' and do better than 2000 AD did.

Book Review: Fallen Superheroes | Geeks of Doom

Ever wonder about all those other heroes and villains that just never made the team? Those slightly less than stellar superheroes who nobody can manage to take seriously? Or maybe the older ones that sort of disappeared into retirement? Well, Eric Curtis sure did. And he managed to sneak up and photograph several of them, too!

All of these photos, and the stories to go with them, are brought to you in Fallen Superheroes. Tread lightly, these may not be members of the Avengers or the Legion of Doom, but they might be dangerous (probably accidentally though).

This book was hilarious. No, let me rephrase that…it was HILARIOUS!!! This was perhaps the funniest book I have received in years. Every joke we have every thought of is represented here in glorious color for our mocking enjoyment. With aptly named characters like 420BLNT, Plutonica, and Nimrod to behold, we delve deeply into the subculture of the second stringers. Just as I am sure the southern states would appreciate The American Angler (a heroic fisherman), 9 Juan Juan (an inmate with the ability to “call for help”) is most definitely beloved of the West Coast. That said, the hero Healing Feet must have mainly foot fetishists as followers and, most likely, lots of them.

I really enjoyed the photography in this book, but the real entertainment comes from the snippets that Scott Allen Perry and Adam Mock have concocted to complete this recipe for mirthfulness and merriment. While I would definitely say that some of the characters are funnier than others, I was downright shocked to see Andy Dick as one of the models in the book. But every single hero in this book has a great written piece to go with them and I enjoyed them all.

This goes on the Xmas wish list...
