Nine Of Brian Wood's DC Comics That Never Were - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

2. (The Original) Anthem – I’ve since reused the title, but I had an OGN project approved at Vertigo with Jame McKelvie on art that, and I can’t even explain why, just dropped off the edge of the world. This was late 2009, and I suspect it was the changing of regime at DC that was to blame. This wasn’t the most traditionally commercial project, and I think in the aftermath it was quietly disposed of. Following that, I reconfigured this concept in at least a half dozen different ways, trying to make it palatable to DC, with no luck at all.

How do you not let Brian Wood and Jamie McKelvie do a book together?!?!

JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Possibly Based on 1980s Comic Book Arc | Collider

According to Latino Review, Justice League will be based on some part on issues #183 ? 185 of Justice League America. Per Latino Review:

In a nutshell, plotwise, the three issue arc involves Darkseid planning the destruction of Earth by blasting it with a ray that?ll move Apokolips (Darkseid?s planet) into the Earth?s place.

So it?s the intergalactic supervillain?s equivalent of ?Get out of my seat.? Again, if this is the plot, it?s certainly worthy of gathering Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash to work together (assuming these are the superheroes that will feature in the movie; I?m curious to see if Justice League will also include Aquaman and Martian Manhunter).

Just like the other DC movies, this could be a very loose adaptation. And keep in mind that this is just a rumor. Back when The Dark Knight Rises was in early production, it was rumored that the source material would be the graphic novel ?Prey?. Nevertheless, Latino Review has a fairly solid track record (they called Thanos appearing in The Avengers), so we shouldn?t write this rumor off.

If that means the weirdness of Apokolips gets some heavy screentime I am all for it. Still no announcement of who will be directing. My vote is for the Wachowskis.

EXCLUSIVE: A Sneak Peek at Brian Wood’s “Star Wars” and More! ? Nerdist

Is there any chance we could see a Northlanders TV show? I’m just saying, AMC is super into period pieces right now….

BW: AMC made a serious play for DMZ but DC Comics is not interested in seeing a DMZ TV show, it seems, as this was just one of many great opportunities they shut the door on. It makes no sense for me or my agent, or anyone else, to invest time in trying to adapt my Vertigo work. It’s just not going to be allowed.

WHAT THE ****, DC?

Sandman, Solo And Grant Morrison's Animal Man Get Omnibuses - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Like the Animal Man Omnibus collecting Grant Morrison’s 25 issue run, a modern masterpiece.

Or Sandman beginning a run in the Omnibus format.

How about Jeph Loeb, Ed McGuinness and Michael Turner’s initial run on Batman/Superman getting the Absolute treatment?

There’s the Solo Omnibus with a legion of fantastic artistic names, their artwork deservedly getting an oversized production.

As DC Entertainment win the legal case against their heirs, they also look to publish Superman: The Golden Age Omnibus, collecting the first three years of Superman by Siegel and Shuster.

Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch get their Authority out of the Absolute and into the Omnibus.

Finally, a Solo collection!

Jamie Foxx Talks Electro

Presumably the “lights it up” comment refers to the character’s electrified powers, and Foxx also spoke a bit about changes to the character’s iconic costume:

“Marc Webb and all those guys that are doing it are smart, they know that it has to make sense in 2013. The suit is really slick, it’s actually black, but it’s the new age.”

In the comics, Electro famously dons a bright green and yellow outfit. Alas, it sounds like there’s been a significant change to the character’s color palette for the film. Foxx elaborated a bit more on the costume during an interview with Blackfilm:

“They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happened. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff.”

Yes. I DO realize that Electro's look is straight(and I use that term loosely) offa Elton John's Captain Fantastic album cover(remember those kids???), but if you are going to change every identifying characteristic...why use the character at all? Certainly there are better villains that you could use while keeping the touchstones intact. At what point does retrofitting become completely disingenuous to the original source material.

Charles Soule To Write Swamp Thing After Scott Snyder - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

This guy any good Adgy. That's a damned shame Snyder stepped off that book. From what I have heard he was doing MOORE-like work.

Never read anything that guy's written, but I've heard good stuff about the Image book he did.

Snyder's run has been pretty damn good, and is definitely worth picking up, but I wouldn't put it anywhere near Moore's level. I don't think anyone will ever nail Swamp Thing that well again.

Rumor of the day: Is this the big-screen Justice League roster? | Blastr

One thing that, to me, has been a hallmark of the JLA is the obligatory selection process set up. I think that Warner Brothers could get a LOT of fanboy interest if they have some easter egg-y scenes where you see glimpses of some more obscure potential members. And it would distance their avengers a little bit. Anyone agree?

Absolutely. A small interview scene in a movie would be an excellent way to introduce some other characters that they might want to have in their own movies/tv series later on and would be an extra gift to fans. If they can make it work... so it. Maybe they can do a Hitman cameo!!!!!!!
