The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

With a cooler uni and less 'form of a giant green fist'. Besides marvel/dc have always had flip sides so one doesn't negate the other. But I do see your point.

Cooler uniform?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Yup. I'm a sucker for helmets. Domino mask...sheesh. Thank you for not arguing the giant green fist thing...man, some of those 70's comics with him and Green Arrow's 'specialty arrows' were kinda WOW.

Much like the Kings...

I love Green Lantern for the potential the character represents... not what was actually achieved in the 60's, 70's, 80's and most of the 90's.

Marvel Considering Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY? | Collider

The casting process on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy continues to move right along, and even though the studio has yet to announce any actors joining the project, they are reportedly looking at some rather interesting names to fill out the cast. We’ve previously reported on a number of shortlists of actors that Marvel and director James Gunn have been considering for the lead role of Star-Lord, a master strategist and combat expert who wears an ability-enhancing suit and pilots a psychically-linked ship. Everyone from John Krasinski to Jim Sturgess has been linked to the role, and now a couple more young male actor names have been added to the list of contenders.

More interestingly, though, is the fact that Marvel is apparently looking into nabbing a couple of high profile comedic actors to bring some levity to the film: Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler.

The folks over at Latino Review, who have been a solid source on Marvel news for the past couple of years now, report that Marvel is currently looking into the availability of both Carrey and Sandler. The report is unclear as to whether the studio is casting two comedic roles or just one, and it’s important to note that looking into the availability of an actor is not the same thing as casting the actor. That said, we all knew Guardians was likely to be a humor-filled movie the minute Gunn signed on, and Carrey and/or Sandler would certainly fit into the likely motion-capture roles of Rocket Raccoon (a talking raccoon) and Groot (a giant tree). Carrey recently proved that he’s not averse to superhero properties, as he will appear this summer in the sequel Kick-Ass 2.

In addition to the Carrey/Sandler news, the site also reports that Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell (The Help, Veronica Mars), and Cam Gigandet (Twilight) are the latest crop of actors being asked to read for the role of Star-Lord. Again, reading for a role is not the same thing as receiving an offer, but it’s clear that Marvel is casting a very wide net in filling this part. Hopefully we hear more solid news soon as the film gears up to begin production later this summer in London. Guardians of the Galaxy will be released in 3D on August 1, 2014.

This just got a little crazier...

Ron Howard in Talks to Direct THE GRAVEYARD BOOK Adaptation for Disney | Collider

I said this in regards to another project Ron Howard had going on...He is a good guy and a very capable director, but his strength is middle-of-the-road stuff. Not stuff that should have a morbid edge...even if it is family oriented. If you want a perfect director for this...I hesitate to say it...Tim Burton.

I wouldn't mind a stop motion version directed by Henry Selick. evil:

X-Men: Days Of Future Past Casting - Page, Paquin And Ashmore In, Jones And Byrne Maybe Not - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

If Singer and co. are sticking close to Days of Future Past as it appeared in the comics, Kitty has a very key role but I can’t quite see how it would be able to work the same way.

In the story line’s “future,” Kitty Pryde would have to be Ellen Page age. So then, if she’s going to “possess” a version of herself in the film’s “past”… well, I don’t think such a character would exist.

I expect they’ve changed it up somehow. Maybe it’s Wolverine’s mind who gets pushed back. Maybe Kitty gets pushed back into another character. Or maybe they find a different way of “future” and “past” communicating.
