Paul Giamatti To Play The Rhino In 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'; Felicity Jones Also Lining Up A Role | The Playlist

THR reports that Paul Giamatti is in talks to play The Rhino in Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." And yeah, the character is pretty much exactly what you would expect. He's a Soviet thug with a suit that gives him super strength and speed, and yes, he's got a horn, hence the name. In the comics, he does team with Electro (set to be played by Jamie Foxx), but we wonder if the movie will take the more interesting angle from "House Of M," where he's originally hired as Peter Parker's bodyguard, only to betray him and help Electro (and some other baddies) expose Spider-Man for who he really is. Either way, let's hope this isn't too many villains spoiling the soup.

Meanwhile, rising British actress Felicity Jones -- fresh off the Sundance Film Festival where she starred in "Breathe In," a reteaming with her "Like Crazy" director Drake Doremus -- is also in negotiations for an unspecified part. Peter will already be bouncing between Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy and Shailene Woodley's Mary Jane Watson, so we're curious what her role might be.

That’s apparently a variant on the Iron Man power suit been designed for leaving the Earth’s atmosphere. It seems reasonable to assume that the design and marketing of this suit indicates that such a thing will appear in the film.

Reasonable assumption, but a toy tie-in is never a guarantee, of course.

So we’ve been asking a couple of the right people the right questions.

First of all, we learned that this won’t be the only merchandising of this design. Not by a long chalk.

And we’ve also been left without any doubt that the suit has a key role to play in the film.

We should remind you, I think, that Kieron Gillen has been writing strips for Marvel recently with the express mission of getting Stark into space. The character will now be a key part of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy comics – written by Brian Michael Bendis, key player in the Marvel Movieverse brain trust, shrewd puppeteer of synergy.

And let’s remember that the cosmic nasty Thanos is bringing his own brand of interstellar hurt to the latter parts of the Marvel Movieverse Phase 2.

HULK Movie Details, AVENGERS 3 Hulk Plot | Collider

Don’t expect to see the Hulk until 2015′s The Avengers 2, as per Feige. However, DO expect to see a third act or post-credits scene of the sequel that sets up Hulk’s next standalone picture.
Apparently, after being deemed a serious threat to the Earth by Marvel’s Illuminati (a secret organization of powerful heroes that includes Tony Stark/Iron Man, the soon to be introduced Doctor Strange and others), the Hulk is shipped off into space.
Once spacebound, the report states that Hulk’s next film will be centered around comic writer Greg Pak’s Planet Hulk. The idea is that Hulk has already spent a lot of time smashing puny humans and puny Gods, so let’s take his story to an alien planet where he can extraterrestrials to his hearts content.
The arc of Planet Hulk centers on the Hulk as he becomes enslaved on the planet Sakaar, is forced to participate in gladiatorial games and eventually becomes a hero of the rebellion against the Red King.
The story doesn’t end here however, because as cool as the idea of Gladiator-meets-Hulk is, it gets better. Here’s another spoiler alert if you don’t want to know about Hulk’s possible involvement in The Avengers 3.

At the end of Planet Hulk, some events transpire that get the Hulk pretty pissed off. The only thing worse than an enraged Hulk is one with an army of loyal followers. The theory goes that Hulk and his warbound fighters will return to Earth in The Avengers 3 to follow Pak’s World War Hulk story arc.
The story of World War Hulk is pretty crazy but basically involves the Hulk and his warriors beating the **** out of every hero and heroic team on Earth, eventually pitting them against each other in the Hulk’s own version of gladiatorial combat.
One thing that makes the standalone Hulk movie more probable is the fact that Mark Ruffalo has signed on for a six-picture deal with Marvel and it is doubtful that he’ll be happy to just appear in post-credits or cameos for the rest of his career.
If El Mayimbe’s report pans out and Marvel really does take this track over the next few years, it’s absolutely HUGE for Hulk fans. Honestly, the guy needs to get off the Earth and stretch his legs a little bit. And what better way to freshen up the Avengers than by having them fight each other in the third installment? Since this isn’t confirmed and it’s way too early for Marvel’s timetable to release anything official, expect a denial (or better yet, silence) for the time being.

OOh that's a bit risky. Getting real comic booky and possibly alienating the crossover audience. I love the idea though. Hopefully means Black Bolt/Inhumans are in the plans too.

Same here, although the idea that the "good" guys would just shoot Hulk out into space to alleviate his threat is completely stupid. Once he got there, though, it was all good.

From this and other comments he’s made about that first cover being the last time he drew those particular characters (referring to the left hand side of the gatefold) it looks like they’re just scrapping Stormwatch up till this point, and replacing the characters with a Stormwatch from another dimension – which happens to include several of the same characters as before, but in costumes more like they had in the old Wildstorm days, especially Midnighter who is wearing an exact copy of Bryan Hitch’s original design for him.

Will Beall’s JUSTICE LEAGUE Script Reportedly Scrapped | Collider

Over at Badass Digest, Devin is hearing from multiple sources that Beall’s script has been scrapped. Apparently each of his sources claim that the script is “terrible,” with some even saying that the quality of the screenplay is the reason why WB has been unable to land a good director (this isn’t hard to believe seeing as how Beall’s script for Gangster Sqaud was quite disappointing). We previously heard that Beall’s story involves the villain Darkseid and “a heavy cosmic threat,” with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern set as the film’s primary heroes, but if his script is indeed being thrown out, that could mean a wholly new story and/or different characters.

I’ve been unconvinced that Justice League could make the 2015 release date for a while now, and if Badass Digest’s report does indeed turn out to be true, it seems unlikely that the film could hit theaters in just two years. A new script will have to be written, a director will have to be found (who will have his own input on the screenplay), a prolonged casting process will need to take place, and then there’s the lengthy production and post-production schedule to take into account.

Though this recent development is certainly disconcerting, it’s been clear for a some time that Warner Bros. isn’t entirely sure how to approach Justice League. Marvel threw the gauntlet down hard with The Avengers, so the DC superhero team-up film is feeling the pressure. Maybe this development isn’t such a bad thing, though. I’d rather have a high-quality Justice League movie in 2016 or 2017 rather than a rushed, subpar Justice League movie in 2015. We should hear more regarding the film soon as we approach the June 14th release of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.

Seems pretty easy. Give it to the Wachowskis to develop from the ground floor. Really, Superman aside, this is one that they HAVE to get right. The entire future of the company may depend on it. DC can only afford to be sooooo far behind Marvel before it affects all aspects of their company. I really question management. The NEW 52 has been an incredible fail so far. Even when they succeed they sabatoge themselves. Not being chicken little, but the future of the comics division WILL hinge on whether they can draw in more crossover audience by having successful movie franchises. It just feels like the market is going to be filled with MARVEL and Star Wars properties film wise, DC needs to be comparable to be valid.

Jeez. Team 7 is, what, 4 months old? I think that's about as many issues as Justin Jordan has been on Deathstroke, too.

Creative changes will see Mike Johnson leave Supergirl, Michael Alan Nelson (from Boom) replacing him. Defalco leaves Superboy, Justin Jordan in. Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray take over Batwing with an all-new armor. And Francis Portela comes back to Legion of Superheroes… Yeah, as we told you Keith Giffen didn’t even last for soil issues he was solicited for.
