DC Cancels Firestorm, Ravagers, Hawkman, Deathstroke, Sword Of Sorcery And Team 7. - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Jeez. Team 7 is, what, 4 months old? I think that's about as many issues as Justin Jordan has been on Deathstroke, too.

Sheesh.

Just saw this. What a ****-up they have made of things. Deathstroke, looking to feature strongly on ARROW, and pretty much a possible Deadpool type for DC and they can't make it work on the page. Hawkman, Firestorm...yet another failed attempt to make those characters connect. Well done DC. Maybe if you shift creative teams around and twiddle yer fiddles while Rome burns you can blow more opportunities. Just strip your lines down to the big guns and JLA and have done with it already. Way to dismantle Vertigo too. God...it bristles how Marvel can just keep rolling out the crap and making bank while Dc cannot find a way to get their thumbs out of their asses because their heads are in the way. Pathetic.

Here's the insanely annoying part of it...

I've been arguing for YEARS that they should just scrap the illusion of continuity and just reboot their entire Universe.......

then out of nowhere they claim that's what they're doing........................

but they don't actually commit to it. Superman is still supposed to have died... but when? how? Batman's entire history is supposed to have happened... but it's impossible.

Green Lantern was supposed to carry over it's story lines... but THAT'S impossible.

Meanwhile they're trying to wrap all their Wildstorm bull**** and Vertigo into the same narrative as the Superman/WW/Batman stuff so now Grifter is facing off against classic DC characters and Martian Manhunter is on Stormwatch and.... and...........

it's all just garbage.

Burn it all to the ground. Start over. REALLY start over.

*sigh*

Also.........

Nothing pisses me off more than reading/watching a story about time travel where the characters are over reacting to time differences.

EXAMPLE... the newest X-Men book where the original X-men are time warped from their teen selves to present day. Young Cyclops can't understand bottled water.... **** you writer. How old is Cyclops supposed to be today? Let's just say 40 shall we? That means young Cyclops (let's make him.... 15 just to be generous) has jumped 25 years into the future.

Making "his time" 1988. You know what they had back in 1988? Bottled water.

I'm assuming by this you mean that they're constantly telling stories of no real consequence and re-hashing stuff that's been done before. All of which is true. But, honestly, almost all this Marvel Now stuff is ****ing great so far.

Couldn't agree more. If Johns and Morrison's being in the middle of or having just finished giant storylines that took years to tell was going to be a problem, then they shouldn't have even bothered with the reboot.

I agree, and it's starting to grate on my nerves the way Bendis writes every single character in the world the EXACT same way ("snappy" dialogue), but even despite all that I'm enjoying this book. More than I wanted or was expecting to.

Will George RR Martin’s New HBO Deal Mean A GAME OF THRONES Prequel? | Badass Digest

The most obvious answer is Wild Cards, a superhero anthology series headed by Martin. The series is made up of superhero short stories and novels set in a shared universe, with crossovers happening in a way that the whole tells a mosaic story. It got its start in a unique fashion, as a roleplaying campaign that Martin himself GMed. The question is who, exactly has the rights to all the stories and characters, but there's no reason Martin couldn't just do the same thing again under the same title and bring in new people. In fact, having an HBO superhero anthology that, in some unexpected way, ties up in episode 12 would be sort of amazing.

DC's Orson Scott Card/Superman Controversy | CraveOnline

Orson Scott Card is a successful science fiction author. His book Ender's Game is going to be a movie starring Harrison Ford soon, and has already been a series of comics from Marvel, who also hired him to write Ultimate Iron Man comics in the past.

Orson Scott Card is also a Mormon and an outspoken opponent of the legalization of gay marriage, and he's on the board of the National Organization for Marriage, which ironically actually opposes marriage, at least for same-sex couples.

Now, Orson Scott Card has been hired by DC Comics to co-write a story to the digital comic project Adventures of Superman, and a backlash has hit almost immediately. CBR has published a screed against Card, claiming his selection diminishes the work DC has done to promote LGBT equality, with such titles as Batwoman and prominent gay characters like Green Lantern Alan Scott, Apollo and Midnighter. The requisite petition has started among fans at Allout.org to get Card fired from the project.

For their part, DC apparently released a statement to Fox News on the controversy. "As content creators we steadfastly support freedom of expression, however the personal views of individuals associated with DC Comics are just that – personal views – and not those of the company itself.”

Card hasn't said anything yet, but Fox News quotes Brian Brown, the president of that National Organization for Marriage, as saying “This is completely un-American and it needs to be stopped. Simply because we stand up for traditional marriage, some people feel like it’s okay to target us for intimidation and punishment.”

I did not know that about Card. While I find his philosophy outdated and laughable I have to come down against the protesters on this one. As long as he doesn't use the forum for his politics, the man should be allowed to work. To outright ban him from anything is as hateful and ridiculous as his anti-gay marraige stance.

I pretty much agree. And I don't remember anyone giving Marvel too much **** when he was writing Ultimate Iron Man for them.
