It was pretty meh. Not bad, but... I think this thing ran it's course years ago.

Pilgrim is one of those classic examples of how good things can happen when the powers that be aren’t paying attention. Created by Stefan Baczkiewicz, Pilgrim is the story of a man who made a single mistake, centuries previously, and has been ‘rewarded’ for that with eternal life. Now, he’s a reluctant neutral party for the various supernatural factions concealed around the UK, constantly exploited by them as they dangle the promise of a final, good death in front of him. Bleeding Cool‘s own Adi Tantimedh described it as ‘a series that’s like HELLBLAZER written by Alan Garner’ and he’s absolutely right, it’s brilliant, nasty, very British stuff and, somehow, it’s found a home on BBC radio which isn’t exactly the friendliest genre fiction environment. Nonetheless, Pilgrim has thrived there and the new series started this week on BBC Radio 4.

Guillermo Del Toro Pitching Warner Bros. and DC on JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK a.k.a. HEAVEN SENT | Collider

Speaking to Total Film, Del Toro says

“It’s going really really well. It’s like meeting old friends. I grew up with Demon Etrigan, with Swamp Thing, with Deadman, so these are characters that are near and dear to my heart.”

“I’d love to use the origins that are proper to each character. I love the idea of Jason Blood as a paladin and a knight…. I love the entire Constantine mythology, the Dead Man mythology, the Alex HollandSwamp Thing mythology. These are really rich things to well, and to dig.”

Del Toro has been attached to produce a Deadman adaptation since 2009, so Justice League Dark/Heaven Sent might be the way to finally bring the character to the big screen.

Of course, this is probably distant-future stuff. Warner Bros. can’t even figure out Justice League proper, and that features characters people actually know. Since Del Toro has already set his sights on Crimson Peak as a follow-up, and since he has plenty of other projects he wants to do, Justice League Dark will probably just be another film that ends up in his orbit. Maybe he’ll direct it one day, maybe he’ll write it, or maybe he’ll just produce it. In any event, don’t expect to see it in theaters any time soon.
