The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

Comic book nerds complain about any minor changes from the book like why is Constantine dark haired and American. Like it makes a difference.

Now if you excuse me, I have something in my eye...

Actually watched Constantine a few times the past couple of days. If you take it as it's own creature...not a bad movie. But for ****s sake...John shoulda been a Brit. Silk cuts and all. They were smart to mine from arguably the best storyline...but, look at it this way, you alienate the core audience...the negativity will be too much to overcome. These movies come with a built in fanbase, Yeah...Scott Pilgrim proved that appeasing the fanboys ain't enough. But new audiences will not rush to something odd looking if the geek vote is thumbs down. Studios can only **** with **** too much. GOTG has the benefit of being such low expectation, Adgy reads the new stuff...but my memories of them...completely different animal. And we BOTH are dying to see it. Looks like fun on a bun, and that will sell tickets to the uninitiated. That, and the fact that the MARVEL brand is strong enough to pull in $$$

ok... I just spend 3 hours on that collider website...

Thanks for ruining my productivity for the day.

Please!! no more nerd sites!!1! My inner 13-year-old is having a great time, but me the adult needs to get his **** done.

unless it's really cool and its worthy of spending 9 hours on...

I am here solely to indulge your inner child. That other guy is on his own!

Are Guardians of the Galaxy a big deal in the comic book community? I've never heard of any of them.

Not so much. The Guardians from my youth were a completely different team. The newest iteration and the one in this movie, to the best of my knowledge, have been around a while...but with limited success. That was why so many were shoveling dirt on this to begin with. James Gunn a quirky low budge director(yet a writer on Scooby Doo flicks and I think, the Snyder DOTD remake) taking a underexposed property with a talking raccoon and a tree, etc. That underdog nature really seems to have translated to the movie itself. I think it's obvious, but I am really rooting for this one. Success for this encourages movie makers to look at EVERYHING as a possible franchise. Plus, as I have said before, this movie appears to embrace it's genesis in COMIC BOOKS. You want to make dramedies like Iron Man 3...fine. But I wants my funny book movies. I fully expect to watch this one repeatedly with a full on smile throughout a la Pacific Rim.
