The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

I don't remember if any of you guys have read Stray Bullets before, but the two new issues came out this past week.

I am very happy to report that even after an 8 year gap between issues, Dave Lapham did not miss a beat. Both of them were ****ing great and you wouldn't even know there had been so much time since the last one. I am very relieved.

Are You Missing Hellblazer? Here Comes Thomas Alsop - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

And now, I understand, coming in June is Boom’s attempt to do “what if John Constantine was a ****?” Or, rather, “what if John Constantine was John Constantine – and not that fellow they have masquerading in the Constantine monthly comic?”

It’s called Thomas Alsop. The title character is the latest in a long line of magicians charged with protecting the island of Manhattan from supernatural threats, but being a product of the modern era is more concerned with his own fame than fulfilling his duties.

The series, from relative newcomers Chris Miskiewicz and Palle Schmidt, is essentially punk rock Dr. Strange. Between the concept and the art, I’ll be keeping an eye out for this one this summer.

Ooooh.

Oh that is just such horse****. Good God, that is the one area that DC has exceeded Marvel in. When Superman died it had weight...just a tremendous event. Batman dying...they did really interesting things with. Barry Allen...Ted McCord...Ralph Dibney...
But MArvel just kills characters as a marketing tool. They ought to have him just come back in the same damned issue. Oh wait, then they can't have 2 silver foil variant covers...F U Marvel.

Exclusive: DC Comics Brings MAD Magazine Variants This April

Man...Mad magazing was soooooooooo necessary in my youth. Cover to fold in cover.

I have the 70's collections of Mad Magazine. The humor during the decade was so outrageous. :O

There's this bit called something along the lines of You Can't Win Against a Bigot.

Waiter: The big party just left!

Bigot Waiter: There are a bunch of Jews. Forget it, they stiff you on the tip!

Waiter: They left a big tip!

Bigot Waiter: Why shouldn't they. Them Jews have all the money in the world.

mhihi:

yeah...like all else...Mad magazine has been diluted over time. Funny thing about the entry you chose Orph...like every media outlet(according to the bigots) MAD magazine was almost exclusively written by Jews. Doesn't matter one way or the other, the '70's weren't ruled by the 'folks who can't take a joke' like our current times. Crude humor and blasting stereotypes, like Blazing Saddles/MAD/etc made people laugh while actually being forced to face the issues and actually discuss them. Nowadays, we all just raise our defenses and entrench in the opinions that CLOSE all conversation. But I digress.
