The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

A Clockwork Angels graphic novel!!!!!!

Not only was this story, envisioned by Neil Peart, artfully told in musical lyrics on Rush's latest album (which is their best by far in a long time, and that's saying something since ALL their albums are great albums), it was also adapted into a novel by Peart and Kevin J. Anderson. Now it is being released as a six-volume comic book series, illustrated by Nick Robles!!!

Would love to see him play a character that isn't always the hero ... it will be interesting to see if he can pull off the reluctant hero or at least an inherently evil personality on screen ...

Think he can pull most stuff off, and what he lacks in chops he compensates for in charisma. Even in the crappiest movie, I enjoy his work. He got to stretch a bit in Snitch. A little on-the-nose at times, but overall he made you forget that he was a giant cast in an everyman type of part. You know, besides Black Adam/Lobo...Imagine him playing Bizaaro. I don't think DC is ready to go there yet...but man, that could be fun if done right.

Edit: btw, if you haven't seen Pain & Gain, it illustrates the charisma part entirely. In a movie populated by ill intentioned, well...idiots, he is the only sympathetic figure. Partially by design, but also due to his likeability.

At Emerald City Con this past weekend there was a full size Rocket strolling around. Pretty funny. I have a photo on my phone and if I knew how to upload to lgk I would. Sadly I do not know how!

ECCC ’14: Dredd 2 Is Next On Alex Garland’s Books

As for a timeline, Urban said that it will be the next film on Garland’s books, once he has completed work on Ex-Machina (his directorial debut). He has a trilogy planned in his head, and it is likely that the next film will be set in the Cursed Earth. Urban is excited about that prospect, and was really impressed with the fan trailer for a Crused Earth Dredd movie that he saw.

Another audience member wanted to know whether the Dark Judges would make an appearance. Jock reported that they were supposed to be a feature of the first film, but they didn’t work — it would have been too much to establish that many characters within its scope. He said it would have to be done for the second film, as they are the go-to characters for expanding Dredd’s world.

Cursed Earth(Mean Machine maaaaaaayyyyyybeeeeee????) AND the Dark Judges. OHPLEASEOHPLEASEOHPLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

I still haven't watched the first Dredd movie (and I don't mean the one with Sly). Dolphin fail?
