‘X-Men’ TV Series In the Works at FOX from ‘Burn Notice’ Creator Matt Nix

The bad news...or is it good news, is that the proposed Hellfire Club series is off the table.

The news comes a year after FOX announced their first planned Marvel series, Hellfire, which fell off the docket when showrunners Evan Katz and Manny Coto dropped off to shepherd 24: Legacy. The report confirms that Hellfire is no longer moving forward. Meanwhile, FOX’s sister network FX is moving forward with Noah Hawley‘s spin on Legion, while Cloak and Dager is currently in the works at Freeform. Superhero shows for everybody!

I dunno if you posted this Krysten Ritter thing because you agree or not...but I found her to be one of the least compelling performers on the show. Not bad per se but not Emmy worthy.

Luc Besson and Dane Dehaan on the Epic Sci-Fi of ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’

This looked great. Very ambitious. But...based on an old French comic. That 'influenced' Star Wars and others. Could get embraced, could go all Jon Carter. But Luc Besson is a cool dude in a loose mood. Gave me the Guillermo del Toro vibe that was sadly lacking at Comicon this year. GO SEE IT!

Disney’s ‘The Rocketeer’ Reboot Heats Up with Gender and Race-Swapped Lead

Not so much a reboot as a sequel, which is a good thing. They are really running far away from the comic book source, since that property seems to be pretty thin outside of Dave Stevens' beautifulinfatuation with pin-up art, Bettie Page and movie serials. However, Joe Johnston made the adaptation work well. I remember seeing the 1991 film at El Capitan. I'm curious to see where they go with this.

There's one good reason to watch The Rocketeer.

:love29:

Haha. I haven't seen that movie in a long time, but I do remember enjoying it. I am a fan of that era. If anything, it probably is an underrated comic book fillm...

...but, I haven't read the comic book source material. :fpalm:

The poor reviews of Suicide Squad are the impetus for the article, but it's about both Marvel and DC movies…

What’s Wrong With the DC Comics Movie Franchise?
As Suicide Squad debuts to poor reviews, efforts to compete with Marvel are being dogged by creative issues and studio interference.

It's not a particularly in-depth article, but there are some nuggets in there…

The creative burden placed on [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice] was extraordinary: It had to introduce Batman and Wonder Woman, function as a Superman sequel, and set up the premise of the Justice League, DC’s Avengers-like super-team. No Marvel movie was ever given such a task, and the ones that have come closest to feeling overloaded—Iron Man 2 and Avengers: Age of Ultron—are among the franchise’s least popular.
