Hail To The King: JACK KIRBY's 10 Greatest Creations

JackKirby_PortaitDC.jpg

August 28 marks what would have been Jack Kirby's 99th birthday, and to celebrate, Newsarama is looking at the King's greatest creations.

But how does one even measure Kirby's genius in those terms? To try and list and quantify everything Kirby created would be nearly fruitless; beyond just his superhero work, he also drew unparalleled monster stories and westerns, and touched nearly every genre comic books have ever expressed - and that's saying nothing of characters and concepts he didn't create, but reinvented, or pioneered.

We all know what Kirby's greatest creation is though...

Finally watched The Killing Joke. Ugh, such a letdown. IMHO it may be the worst DC animated movie so far.

IMHO, there is nothing as underwhelming as 'Spider-Man Reboot Again' set pics...

It was going OK until... TLDR from the article:

"because we have something drastically better to compare it to: Captain America: Civil War. Marvel adapted one of the most riveting, exciting pieces of the comics for a smackdown between Team Cap and Team Iron Man."

Excuse me while I laugh myself to tears over here. Winter Soldier, sure. Civil War, no way. A movie that spent 15 minutes doing a detour to shoehorn in Spider-man. Then to "fight" about nothing. And then there's the 'they didn't actually properly adapt CW'. Wow.

Why don't they just make one movie with the restarted versions of Spiderman, the Hulk, and the Fantastic Four so it can be one single film to not see. Superman can come too. I guess Punisher escaped in the nick of time though.

They missed a glorious opportunity to have Keaton play Norman Osborn and move into Dark Reign after Infinity. Just change out the Skrull Invasion for defeating Thanos.

The groundwork is already there. Stark is in total disarray - Pepper runs his company and has for all intents left him. The Avengers are shattered, he found out that Captain America would rather defend the man who killed his parents than stay in the Avengers. Really easy to play that up and marginalize Iron Man.

Have Osborn collude his way into somehow defeating Thanos, have Ross give him carte blanche in hunting down Rogers and Co. in an official role. Introduce the Sentry and Bullseye as he builds his team. They could easily give Ares a cameo in the WW Hulk aspect of the next Thor film to set him up as the "Thor" of the team. If Carol Danvers comes in to Infinity, you can easily offer a Sofen Ms Marvel. Have then get their comeuppance as Captain America comes out of the shadows and Stark finds himself. It writes itself.

Keaton as Norman Osborn would have been spectacular.

Wow. F Kevin Feige. You have my vote sir. Only issue with your wonderfully conceived idea is...is it too much/dense/complicated for the masses? Other than that, it's terrific.
